Alright, alright, I came up with this story when I got bored and read the book Where She Went in my study hall. Where She Went is the sequel to the popular book If I Stay. My study hall is occasionally held in the library, so it happened that I saw that book sticking out of the bookshelf.
Note: Both of these wonderful books were written by Gayle Foreman. I definitely recommend reading the series, even if you're not one for romance books! (PS: There's only like hints of romance, but not too much, which suits me a lot)
Honestly, I liked Where She Went a lot more than If I Stay. The story that happens is told from Adam's point of view and what happened after Mia woke from her coma.
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS: Three years after the events of If I Stay, Adam is in this band called Shooting Star, where their popularity had now risen and the band got super famous off of their newly released album (which he wrote). Mia had gone off to Julliard after she had gotten accepted, and becomes a rising star as a cellist. They didn't really keep in contact during those years, so it was a surprise after they bump into each other in New York. Adam had gone to privately (sort of, turns out people found out) watch one of Mia's concerts held at Carnegie Hall, so they were both just coming out. After they reunite, they slowly rebuild their friendship and rekindle their romance. However, the path there is quite an experience, as they are being constantly harassed by the media who try to draw connections between the two.
Anyway, where was I going with this? Ah yes, the story I came up with!
Summary:
Nathaniel Rosenfield and Brigid Goldwirth had a falling out back in middle school (and a little bit of a fight) , and each of them lost contact overtime. With that lost contact came an erase of all their past faults, and most of all, the memories of each other.
Many years later, Nathaniel becomes a nationally famous author, while Brigid becomes a famous singer and musician who had recently rose to fame with her latest album The Dreamcatcher. Nathaniel, however, starts to struggle balancing his time between gigs as a famous author and a high-paying job in security management for an electric appliance company. Brigid had given up with keeping a job with regular pay because she was always on tour. One day, Brigid has a concert near where Nathaniel has a book signing, and Nathaniel decides to see the concert after he is done. When he gets there, he watches Brigid and sits in one of the balcony seats in the huge arena. However, once the both of them run into each other after the performance, they meet and become friends. Here's the catch; both of them had forgotten that they had gone to school together, let alone had a falling out. It isn't long before the media catches the attention of the two and start to protrude into their friendship. Tensions rise, and it takes a while before they realize their past feelings against each other from long ago as the media tries to dive into their past.
Notes:
** Throughout the story some chapters would reference song lyrics (random ones made up, not from actual songs) to Brigid's album The Dreamcatcher.
** There would be many samples from "interviews" from the both of them.
** Still a work in progress, I'm still trying to think this out.
Why I'd Never Write This:
** Romance stories are not really my strong suit. I like action, adventure, mystery stories. I haven't quite figured out how to put something exciting into a romance without it sounding too cliche or too cheesy.
**The plot is way too similar to Where She Went; it might as well be fanfiction.
**I have seen and read many stories and plots much like the one above, including stories on Wattpad.
Readers, feel free to comment/message me below about any ideas to expand the plot of the story, or anything to make it more interesting!
