*Expedition Day*

(F/n)'s POV

This is it, my first expedition outside of the walls. I'm really nervous but I'm keeping my nerves at bay and keeping myself calm.

Right now, we were all waiting on our horses at the gates. "Gates open in thirty seconds!" Commander Erwin shouted. "All hands, prepare to leave!" He added.

Levi had me positioned beside him since I guess he's a little over protective of me right now. "This is tantalizing. Hey, Levi?" Hanji whined.

"No." Levi bluntly replied, making me quietly snicker. While Hanji continued to beg Levi and Mike to help her capture a Titan, the gate slowly started to rise.

"We will now begin the 49th expedition beyond the walls! Forward!" The commander shouted as we snapped the reins on our horses, passing through the gate.

Time Skip

We stopped in a small abandoned village outside of the walls for now. Hanji was desperately trying to get Erwin to let her capture a Titan, but he still said no.

Poor Hanji, she just wants to continue experiments.

I thought to myself. "H-hey! Wait! Erwin!" We heard her shout, walking out of the tent after the commander.

We looked over at them and Oluo spoke up. "It's impossible, Hanji-san. It's life or death just to kill Titans. No matter how many lives we have, capturing them would be impossibl-"

He got cut off by Hanji picking him up by his shirt collar. "Let's say, Oluo...let's say Levi is trying to kill you. Seriously trying. What can you do? Can you fight and win?" She asked him.

"No...not possible..more importantly..I'm choking.." Oluo weakly said.

"Shall I tell you how to win? You study him. Everything from his routine to the types of food he doesn't like, his taste in women, the number of times he goes to the bathroom. You find out every little detail like that. If you do that, you will find some weakness you can exploit. If you don't fight like that, you will definitely be killed."

"Squad leader, that's too much!" I exclaimed. She finally let go of him, leaving Oluo to fall on the ground. "Sorry, sorry. But it's pretty much something like that." She said before leaving.

"Shit, I seriously almost died. She's definitely not sane. Has to be crazy." Oluo muttered.

A moment later, we all heard the sound of a flare gun being shot. I looked up and saw a red flare that was shot by squad leader Mike. "The forest! They're here!" He shouted.

I saw Hanji already getting on her horse in excitement. "Squad leader! It's too dangerous alone!" I shouted at her, not wanting her to go off into the forest by herself.

"Erwin! I'm gonna go ahead!" She called out to the commander, whipping the reins and running off. "Wait, Hanji!" He yelled, but she was already off.

Dammit Hanji, you better not get yourself killed!

I jumped on my horse and went after her.

We made it into the forest and Hanji was a bit ahead of me. "Hanji! It's too risky!" I exclaimed, trying to make (h/n) gallop faster.

"Not now, (f/n) dear! It's the first Titan of the day!" She replied, her horse going faster now. "Ooh! Found you!" I heard her cheer.

I looked up when I got closer to her and saw a Titan. We both passed the Titan and it started to run after us. I finally caught up to her and the Titan was getting closer.

"Don't get us killed!" I hollered, looking back and seeing the Titan face-plant into a tree.

Jesus Christ, that thing is creepy!

The Titan recovered from it's "little accident" and started to follow us out of the forest.

As we exited the forest, I heard another flare fire. I looked back and saw that it was Levi who shot the flare to get the Titan's attention.

The Titan stopped in place for a brief moment before chasing us. Again. However, it didn't last long. It turned around and went back inside the forest.

"Huh? Hey, wait up!" Hanji started to follow the Titan back into the forest. And like the good person I am, I went along with Hanji again so she wouldn't get hurt.

We followed it until it stopped in a large open area within the forest. The Titan stopped right in front of a large tree in the middle of the area. I looked over at Hanji, "Come on. We have to go before it decides to go on a rampage and kill us." I said, looking back at the Titan.

Just then, the Titan started smashing it's head into the tree bark. Hanji got off her horse and slowly started walking towards the beast. I got off mine as well, and tried to stop her from getting closer.

We were now a few feet away from the Titan. "Hanji! Stop!" I yelled, trying to pull her back. Then the Titan turned around and was about to grab us but we used our 3DMG and maneuvered up to a tree branch.

"Woah! Close!" Hanji chuckled before going back down to the ground when the Titan calmed down a bit. "Hanji, get your ass back up here if you don't want your funereal to be tomorrow!" I tried not to get angry.

"Got it!" I heard Oluo yell. I looked up and saw him heading for the nape. "Oluo, wait!" Hanji exclaimed. In the blink of an eye, he was grabbed in mid-air.

But then Levi came to his rescue and sliced the Titan's neck. The Titan fell to the ground, with Oluo still in it's hand.

"You alright?" Levi asked him. "Corporal...I'll stick with you forever!" Oluo replied, tears coming from his eyes. "He could have been a precious testing subject. If he had been captured...humanity could've taken a step forward..." Hanji muttered to herself.

"Shut up, shitty glasses!" Levi grabbed her by the collar. "If you want to end up as Titan feces, I won't stop you. But don't endanger your comrades!" He added.

"Titans don't defecate. They don't have a digestive system, after all." Hanji responded. "Ooh! Burn!" I whispered, quietly giggling. I glanced up at the large tree for a moment and noticed something odd.

"Um...Levi?" I asked, backing up a few steps. "What?" He asked, annoyed. "Is that...a Titan's doing...? But...no, that can't be possible..." I quietly said, not looking at him.

"What are you on about?" He furrowed his brows. I hesitantly pointed up at the tree, where there was a decapitated scout's body sitting inside. Hanji went up to the tree and climbed up to the spot where the body was.

I saw her move the soldier's cape on their shoulder and look at their badge. "The armband of the 34th expedition...a solider who died a year ago...name is...I...Ilse Langnar..." She said.

Levi looked over at me before something caught his eye in the distance. He walked over to whatever it was and grabbed it. "I can't believe a Titan would do something like-" She stopped when she looked over at Levi.

"Levi? What's that?" She asked. "This is...what Ilse Langnar achieved." He replied, flipping through the pages of the small book.
