A soft breeze flutters between the towering trees, mingling with the sweet chirp of a birds song. Illuminating rays of precious sunlight dance across the forest floor, glinting off of the soft brown fur of a sleeping bear. The warm light also glitters against the fair, silvery-white locks of a delicate looking elleth, her resting form propped against the large animal.
Porcelain like fingers trail sleepily through the bears silky hair, comforting the animal and it's blissful companion. Nearby a fawn and it's mother graze lazily by a crystal clear pond, not a worry in the world as to their surroundings.
Melethril, the beautiful young elf hums a light tune, earning a drowsy grumble from Daermaethor. The girl breathes in the woody and fresh scent of her cohort, nuzzling into his side and placing a motherly kiss to his bulky leg.
"Mellon," She whispers, and again the bear grumbles tiredly in response, "Echuio." She nudges him gently, stirring him awake. "Tolo ar nîn."
After a moment of coaxing, Daer slowly but surely stands to his feet, following his friend up the ramp to their home in the trees. As he is too big to fit through the threshold, the bear sits patiently on the porch whilst Melethril continues on inside.
Taking a large wooden bowl from a shelf, she creates a mixture of nuts, berries, apples, carrots, honey, milk, and seeds for her friend. For herself she simply prepares a bowl of berries, and a cup of tea made from boiled herbs.
Carrying the dishes outside, she plops herself down next to the bear, placing his bowl neatly in front of him. They both start on their lunch, peacefully watching the other wild animals walk around on the forest floor below, some going to drink from the glistening pond, others foraging in the grass.
The sloppy sounds of Daer's lips smacking against the honey amuses the elleth, causing a content grin to curl against her lips as she munches on a round pink berry. Melethril raises her cup to her lips, allowing the sweet herbal drink to wash down the tartness of her food. Her friend grumbles, sniffing the cup before strongly nudging her shoulder, almost knocking her over. She places her hand on the top of his head, pushing him away disapprovingly.
"If you want something to drink, you must ask politely!" She scolds. The bear makes a bellowing noise, his lips curling occasionally as if he were trying to speak.
"Agoreg vae" She gives him a thorough scratch behind the ears before standing and walking inside to pour him a bowl of the tea. She retrieves the large pitcher and another large bowl, and begins emptying the drink into the dish. As she sets the container down, she is suddenly startled by the guttural pulsing sound of distress made by Daer, followed by the drumming of hooves outside. Unless it was a passing elk or heard of deer, she never heard those noises. But no, it mingled with the clatter of reigns and muffled shouts in Sindarin.
Without a moments hesitation, Melethril sets the pitcher down, and hurries outside, finding her beloved friend at the bottom of the ramp, surrounded by weapon wielding elves. The animal was stood tall on his hind legs, swatting at the air and doing his best to protect his home, all the while they aimed sharpened arrows at him.
Panic flooded her being and the elleth ran quickly down the ramp, her heartbeat pounding wildly in her ears.
"Daro! Lau! Man ceril! Drop your weapons please!" Mel cries, throwing herself into the space between the bear and the patrol. She turns to face the animal behind her, placing her hand gently on his paw, she coaxes him down. "Av-'osto, Daermaethor."
