Chapter 7
"CHRIS!" I screamed. His body was limp as he hit the ice, I crawled over to him I knew I couldn't be of any help to him as my head still spun hurting even more from what I had just witnessed but I wanted to be by his side. Ian and Anthony skated over to me, Ian scooped me up into his arms. Anthony and Carl picked up Chris and started to take him off the ice.
"It's gunna be alright. He's gunna be fine I promise." He hushed me. He was probably right he might have a concussion but I hope that's all. Even knowing this I couldn't help it I started to cry, I cried into my friends arms for what felt like an eternity. "Kaylee, the ambulance is here."
"Ambulance!" I sobbed
"He hasn't woken up yet, your going with him. Anthony and I will meet you at the hospital." I nodded whipped my tears quickly took off my equipment and got into the ambulance.
They checked me for a concussion but I was all clear and as soon as they were done with me I was at Chris's side I grabbed he's hand and squeezed it gently. "Please wake up... For me?" I begged, he didn't move still lying there motionless. I began to cry again and stroked his hair with one hand the other still holding his. "Please come back to me." I sobbed. "I need you."
We got to the hospital and he was taken to the doctor. They wouldn't tell me anything except that he should be waking up soon. I say and waited for hours finally falling asleep by his side his hand clutched in mine.
"Kaylee?" I woke to his groggy voice "wh-what happened?"
"Chris I'm so glad you're awake!" I hugged him and he hugged me back holding me tight as I cried into his shoulder. "I was so worried about you."
"That's the last thing I remember, being worried about you." He told me, "I saw him hit you and I got so mad I was going to you but he was so close to me I just took a swing and then nothing."
"You missed and he hit you, you were out for hours." I said looking up at him. "You were really that worried about me?"
"Yeah. You were worried about me to, or did the team just send you?" He asked.
"I was really worried about you." I admitted and turned away shyly.
He took hold of my hand again, "thank you for caring." He said as he pulled me in for a hug, I started to cry again. "Don't cry Kaylee I'm alright." He said with a worried tone.
"It's not that, I'm really happy your awake." He hugged me tighter now
"I'm glad your ok." He told me, tears streaming down his face now.
"Excuse me I don't mean to intrude but I'd like to discuss Christopher's condition." The doctor said from the door of the room.
We immediately let go of each other and wiped our tears. "What's the damage?" He joked with the doctor.
"Well you have a minor concussion but judging by the description of the accident you appear to have landed on your tailbone causing you to pass out. So nothing to serious but make sure to..."
"I know what to do." I told the doctor, my brother had had concussions before so I knew very well what to do.
"Alright then he's free to go home now." The doctor informed us and then left.
"Would you like to stay at my place for the night?" I asked. Alone time with Chris sounds like a good time even if I have to get up every hour.
"Sure I don't think anyone will miss me at home. Well if there were people there they might but um yeah I'll come." He said rather awkwardly.
"Great! We'll stop by your place and pick up your stuff on the way." I replied. So off we went checked him out of the hospital and left for my house.
