~~~~~Chapter 2: Another day...changes~~~~~
Ahhhhh, a beautiful morn...ARGH I can't move my arms and legs, their throbbing in pain even just slightly sitting up on my bed. My arms feel like their going to fall off and my legs feel like I went to...BOOTCAMP! Gosh, I forgot, let me tell you the story...
The whistle blows that sounds like a whine from a dying cat, and alerts all the girls immediately. "Alright, no confessions equals BOOTCAMP!" announced Madam Fromage. Everybody shivers as the cold breeze passes through, and rolling their eyes at the same time, thinking about the foreign girls. "Everybody, assemble!" instructed Madam Fromage. All the girls line up, feeling like they would rather die than do bootcamp, sprint all around the oval, every 20 seconds, do 15 pushups, sprint again, another 20 seconds pass, and have to do 20 pushups. Every 20 seconds, the sound of the whistle is released, and we do 5 more pushups than the last. After doing up to 60 pushups, we drop dead, and was only for around 15 minutes (well that's what it felt like). We then get to the relays, we split into groups of 5, do the 'suicide' run, which is running back and fourth, but going further and further each return. After 20 minutes of that, we do obstacle courses, rock climbing, monkey bars, balancing activities, more climbing and we continuously had to do the course all over again if one fell over.
And, the most painful part of bootcamp was... the fitness routines, from star jumps to pushups, from going up and down the stairs to sprinting 400 metres and back, doing squats to doing weights, anything you could think of. 3 hours of bootcamp was the longest period of time we have ever done in bootcamp. "Argh, I can't stand up Marie!"whined Rosia. I tried to comfort her by saying that we were still alive and what the benefits of bootcamp was (not that bootcamp is a benefit) but it did eventually make things better, and it was all over and done with.
As soon as Rosia and I walked back to my room, there was an envelope on my bed, all fancy, like a big red stamp, and fancy cursive writing on the front saying: From: Mr & Mrs Corte, To: Marie Lin Thompson. Strange, I don't ever get any mail, especially from strangers. I slowly release the stamp off the attached envelope, and pull out a piece of paper reading:
Dear Marie,
I am proud to inform you that we have adopted you as our own. For this, we will advance on the 5th of July, and you, Marie, will be moving to our home. Madam Mina Fromage knows all the details, so if you have any questions, she is the person to contact. But, if you have any concerns about this happening, please contact me on 0456 377 348. Our home address is 65 Evens Circuit, York, but the address is not quite necessary for we will pick you up on the day.
I hope you appreciate the offer.
From Mr and Mrs Corte
I was speechless, I have finally been adopted! With my mouth wide open, just gripping the piece of paper in my hand, Rosia snatches the letter from me and reads it herself, after 30 seconds, her mouth drops open. As I am trying to organise my thoughts, I finally look up, try to be calm and ask "Rosia?" to get her attention. Rosia looks up at me, and smiles, not a smile that would make you jump for joy, but the type of smile like she is hiding her true feelings. "Wow, you're...adopted." said Rosia, struggling to get the words out of her mouth. "Yeah, who would of thought I would..." Rosia interrupts. "Adopted." There was a VERY awkward silence that day, she didn't want to look at me for the whole day, she would try to ignore me when I tried to speak to her, she would look away when I looked at her, when I sat next to her at lunch she moved seats. I was quite upset that she wasn't happy for me, but she was mad at me. Hey, it wasn't my fault that I suddenly got a letter, saying that I was adopted to a wonderful family, and obviously accepting it. So, I decided that she had to say it to my face! I went up to her and said "Alright, what's the deal, you don't talk to me, you move away from me, you don't even look at me, so tell me, why aren't you happy for me?" She just doesn't say a word. The room starts getting intense.
I don't like the feeling of an intense room. So I drag her to my room, and repeated "Why are you avoiding me, shouldn't you be happy for me?" She looks up, stares into my eyes, I can tell she's going to burst into tears, but she lets out these words "I can't bare to think that I will never see you again." Now I had nothing to say. All of a sudden, she goes up to me, grabs me, and hugged me SO tight I could hardly breathe. COULD THIS BE THE END OF OUR FRIENDSHIP?
