Under the Willow

Prolouge

The first bomb exploded so loud,my ears popped.

I ran to my seat and held on tight. A girl even screamed, but I tried to look as calm as possible. Every action was looked upon, even if we weren't in the capital. Suddenly, our eyes went to the door that separated the control room and the main room.
A middle- aged man walked out with a clipboard. I turned around as I heard a blonde teenage boy mumble that it was speech time.

"Alrighty, kids." said the man.
" You have seen many things in the games, but today this will be different. This is your own arena. But there is one thing. After you step out of this door, you are all doctors. Not nurses or assistants, but doctors. There is no turning back after this. If anyone would like to leave, step aside now.

Nobody moved.

" Well, alright then." said the man in almost an enthusiastic voice. I got up from my seat, and walked over to get my first aid kit, bulletproof jacket, and winter coat.  As I was turning around, a boy with dark hair kissed my forehead. He smiled, and walked to the head counter.
" Name?"
"Rory Hawthorne."
The officer nodded, and the hovercraft door opened out to the destroyed courtyard. The last glimpse I could catch of him was of him running toward an eight year old girl who's leg was trapped under debris.
I waked up to the officer like everyone else did.
" Name?"
" Primrose Everdeen."
He nodded, and right when I was about to run out, stopped me by grabbing my arm.
" There was a package for you," he said handing a very small box to me. I opened it, and could not believe what I saw.

Katniss couldn't have sent it, because I hadn't told her that I was in the Capital. As I ran my finger around it, I realized it wasn't the newer ones that were made in District 13 for the rebellion. It was the very first one Katniss had worn. I clipped it on slowly and smiled.
"For protection." Katniss had said.

But for some reason, I didn't feel protected.
