17! Disaster Is The Definition of Love.

I looked back and forth between Rose, and the other three, and I envisioned myself as superwoman, knocking Rose's phone out of her hand with a cafe menu that slices through the air, dousing Victoria's fury with a bucket of water, and pushing Shelly into a car that's on the highway to hell while Avery just looks at me, upset that I ruined his date with a hot cheerleader.

Eh, I'm just going to have to go with the next best thing.

"Shit, Arnie, we've been found out!" I cried to a guy that was sitting at the table next to Jagger and mine, pulling him up by the arm. I rapidly scoped him out. Cute enough to make it believable.

"Avery, thanks for bringing Shelly here for me." I said, turning to him.

I noticed Rose recording me and Arnie, now, not Avery cheating. Avery caught on faster than I thought he would. He guided Shelly by the arm and brought her in front of me. The girl was so confused, she didn't comment or anything, just stared at me.

"This is the guy I've been telling you about. Sorry I couldn't bring you myself. I didn't have any room in my car today." I said to her, telling her with my eyes to go to a clueless Arnie.

"I'll give you a twenty to just shut up and go along with it." I muttered quickly to "Arnie".

"No need, just let me have the girl for a night." he whispered back, smiling at a beaming Shelly.

Shelly glanced at me, shot me a grin that I couldn't tell was sincere or not, and flounced over to Arnie, linking her arm through his. She leaned into his chest as she said loud enough for Victoria to hear, "Thanks for setting up this date, Charlotte."

I nodded towards her in approval. Obviously, she valued her face as well. I turned away, in Victoria's direction, acting like I just noticed her there. "Oh, Victoria! Sorry! Did you and Avery have plans? I'm sorry if I ruined them. I forced him to bring Shelly over here for a date so she'd hopefully not flirt with my boyfriend." I blabbered.

"And whose your boyfriend, Charlotte? Just out of curiosity." Rose said, her phone angled towards me.

I rolled my eyes and didn't answer her, just turned back to a confused Jagger and an amused and grateful Avery. High heels click clacked against the tile as Victoria strode over to us. I met her gaze with confidence. She stopped in front of me and checked me out, as if deciding whether or not to believe me.

She didn't say anything to me, just turned to Avery and said, "You better not be cheating on me, Avery Charles."

Avery scowled. "Don't worry about it."

Not wanting to make more of a scene than we already did, I cleared my throat and pushed Victoria, Avery, and Jagger out the door, all of them piling into my car. We sped off quickly, before Rose could catch up to us.

We went back to the house and chilled out until the others came home. Gabriel, Kirby, and Rex all looked at us, annoyed that we could ditch school but not them, because we didn't even tell them about our little "get together".

Back in my room, I called Candy. She picked up on the third ring. "Hello?" came her chirpy voice.

"Hey, Candy!" I greeted, equally friendly. "Can you come a little later? Like be fashionably late about half an hour?"

"Um, he's picking me up at my house, remember?" she asked, making me smack my forehead.

"Uh, text him and tell him you'll come on your own." I said, dropping onto my bed.
