Happy New Years, everybody!<3

"Mommy! Mommy, look!"
I looked to where my little Hallie was pointing. I grinned when I saw a man dressed up as santa clause walking down the street. It looked like he just got off break from work, and didn't just willingly decide to take a stroll down the street with a santa suit on. But before I could say anything, Hallie ran to attack him. Hallie's twin sister, Bailey, was already crossing the street to meet him.
"Be careful for the cars!" I called.
I smiled as I saw my two girls jump into a laughing Santa's arms. Well, at least he isn't one of those Grinch santas where they totally despise kids. I sighed contentedly and sat on a nearby bench. I made sure I could still see Hallie and Bailey, and then pulled out my phone.
My fingers punched in a number I've memorized by now, but like always, my thumb hovered over the call button. Every day, this is the point where I stop, look away, and flip my phone shut.
But today's the day before christmas. It's been an year and four months since John and I had moved to London, and we still couldn't find Avery, just his new cell phone number. Honestly, if it had been anyone else, I would've given up by now.
For some reason, though, when it came to Avery, I couldn't.
I feel like I tied all my loose ends except one, and that little hole made my whole life incomplete.
"Ready to go?"
I looked up and smiled when I saw John, standing in front of me with four hot chocolates skillfully balanced in his hands.
"Yeah. The girls are just saying hello to santa." I replied, taking the two cups from his right hand to help him out.
Still keeping the two cups he had left in his left hand, he wrapped his free arm around my waist, bringing me in. He buried his head into my hair. "Love you, Lottie."
I smiled. "I love you too, John."
We both fell silent as we stared across the street, at our two girls, the center of our lives. John was the one to break the silence with, "Jagger just landed. He's bringing Shelly and Kirby with him."
I laughed. "What a ladies man." Then his words sunk in and I frowned. "What about Rex and Gabriel?"
John leaned in closer and whispered, "They're picking out a wedding ring today. They'll be here tomorrow."
I jumped out of his arms and looked at him, full on. "No. Way."
He grinned and wrapped his arms around my waist. "Way."
I squealed and leaned into his chest. "Kirby's going to be so freaking happy!"
I felt John's muscles tense. I glanced at him curiously. "What?"
He looked down at me, his expression showing that he was obviously confused. "No? Don't you know that Shelly and Rex have been going strong the week after we left Pennsylvania?"
I gaped, my chest tightening with the scent of betrayal. "What the fuck is he think-"
"Christmas fools!"
"You're funny." I replied flatly, pushing him away from me playfully.
He laughed and lifted the hand that he was holding the hot cocoa in up. "Whoa, whoa, watch the hot chocolate."
I smirked. "I would've laughed if it spilled on you."
He was about to snap back a response when I heard loud jingling bells. Curious, we both glanced toward the sound and both of us dropped our hot cocoa, not even caring when they landed on our shoes, burning our toes through our now ruined shoes.
