Chris POV
I got really scared for a second. Then my mother laid her hand on my back. "Chris everything will be ok." she said. I turned and looked at her.
"How do you know?" I asked. She shrugged and kissed my forehead.
"I just know as your mother you'll be just fine." she said. I smiled and she smiled too.
"I love seeing you smile. It makes my life complete." Then I heard a little girl scream. I looked at my mother. "It's ok Chris. Royalty isn't here."
"I don't care if it wasn't Royalty, a little girl just screamed, Ma." then Kevin walked in. He looked scared. "Who just screamed?" I asked him. He looked at me.
'Oh you heard that? Uh let's just say that wasn't a girl." he said. I looked at my mother. She shrugged. Then I saw Nia and Zillah walk through the doors.
"Chris, where should I go?" they asked.
"Uh, I don't know. They didn't tell me where the girls would be because they think I'm going to seek off and fuck Rita before the wedding starts."
"Oh. Kay. Hi Ms. Joyce." Nia looked at my mother.
"Are you ready tp get your face beat?" my mother asked. I looked at her.
"What?"
"Girl talk Chris. Don't worry. royalty will be saying it soon enough."
"No the fuck she won't." I said looking down at my phone. Rita just sent me a picture. "She knows we ain't supposed to see each other until we get married." I opened the message but I didn't get to see the picture because Nia took my phone. I looked at her.
"You know the rules because you just said it."
"Hey, it's not fair. What if she sent me one of those pictures? She was on her period until yesterday. She wants to get me hyped."
"Well, Chris, it just so happens to be that. Wow, that's what it looks like down there." Nia said. I looked at Zillah. She laughed.
"Ma, I'm going to go figure out where we supposed to go. Before I hear or see something I don't want to hear."
"Whatever." Nia handed me my phone back. I looked at her. "Just know you lucky. I wish I was gay just so I-"
"Ma!" Zillah said.
"I should go." she said walking away. I looked around the room. Then I looked at my mother.
"It's really happening." I said.
"Yes it is. I'm never been any more proud of you."
"I'm happy for myself. I mean, I never thought I would find the love of my life by 26. Let alone have and plan a wedding in less than a week."
"Well this wedding is going to be amazing. Just wait on it. I feel it." she said. "Now get ready, I don't want to wait anymore. My baby is getting married. I know Team Breezy mad." she smiled and left. I nodded as Migo came in.
"Wassup nigga?" he asked dapping me up.
"I'm scared."
"Why? You've never been scared before."
"Yeah but this is a new thing in my life. You know it's thing I never want to re happen again. You should never get married twice."
"What are you second guessing yourself?"
I looked at him. He smiled. "Chris you've spent the last year with this woman. You know her ins and outs. You know what you love about her. What you hate. What is it that you would be second guessing about?"
"I'm not really into the marriage. I mean, what if I cheat?"
"You haven't cheated in a year."
"Yeah but people change."
"Like you did. You haven't cheated in a year Chris." he said yet again.
"I don't know. I, I don't know if I'm ready."
"I was thinking the same thing." Rita said. I looked at her.
"Really?"
"We're young. We're not extremely young but, we're close. I want to you know, not explore, but, what is the word. I don't know, not feel suffocated by this marriage."
"Yeah."
"So, how about we wait a couple of years?"
"Yes, I would love that. Only if you're up with it."
"I am."
"I love you Rita."
"I love you too."
'So no wedding?" Migo asked. I shook my head.
"Not for a while."
So yes, the end of the story. I know what y'all saying.
