Shay's POV

Later that night as Nick was filming his music video, I decided to go out for a bit. I've heard this new country singer Sam Hunt is playing at one of the clubs Nick and I always go to. I figured why not make a stop to check this guy out. Who knows, maybe he'll be interested in working together.

Eyes wondered my way as I grabbed the railing to help myself up the stairs to the balcony. I took a seat at the table we always sit and I let out a sigh. The empty chair on the other side of the round table made me remember the times he sat in that chair. All the laughs we shared and the amount of happiness felt back then made me miss him more than ever. I get that as we get older, sometimes things or people change. I never expected Nick to change so dramatically all at once.

I looked up as lights were beginning to shut off and a young handsome man with blonde hair covered up by a tan cowboy hat took center stage with his guitar. He smiled widely at everyone as he introduced himself.

"I'll like to thank you all for coming. Tonight is going to be about you. I'll be playing some old classic favorites along with some of my own songs. If you know the words feel free to sing along..This song goes out to all the single ladies out here tonight." I chuckled as a few down below shouted out making it known to everyone that they're available. I just sat back and played with my wedding ring as the music started.

Nick's POV

When I drove on our street, I noticed Shannon's Mazda parked in the driveway. I parked my red convertible right next to it and took a deep breath before entering the house. My eyes made immediate contact to the figure sitting on the couch. After placing my stuff down, I sat down next to her as she gripped a piece of paper tightly in her hands.

"How was the video?" Her gentle voice asked.

"It went okay I guess. How are you feeling?"

"I'm okay I guess," she shifted in her seat and that alone made me want to wrap her in my arms. So I did and she let me. As I pulled her in closer, she hugged my arms tightly. "Why did you get so drunk last night?" I let her go and she turned herself to face me. I rubbed the back of my neck.

"I don't know, I guess I was scared."

"And you think I'm not? I could of really used you last night. I forgave what you said remember? So there was no reason for you to go out like that. This is all new to me, it's my body that's going to be changing. All you have to do is just be there for me and you weren't last night, so that makes me wonder if you'll ever be." I stared down at my hands afraid that if I look and see the pain in her eyes, I would collapse. I can hear it in her voice, and that alone      makes me sick to my stomach. "The Nick I knew would be jumping over canyons to be there for me," she continued. "You know, the Nick who wrote me this." She handed me the crumbled up piece of paper that was in her hands since I got here. "I remember the Nick you were back when we were kids growing up and eventually falling in love." She stood and walked upstairs leaving me alone with this piece of paper. Tears burned in the back of my eyes as I unraveled it to see the original sheet music to, "Please Be Mine." There were tear stains already where my tears were now falling. The ache in my chest swelled up and it became hard for me breathe. I took a breath in which turned into a loud sob and I buried my head in my hands. I have to fix this.

Shay's POV

I woke up the next morning and looked at Nick's side of the bed. It was still perfectly made and his pillow didn't show a signal sign he came to bed last night. I'm starting to lose hope that I'll ever see my Nick again.

When I got downstairs the studio door was wide open and made me suspicious. As I went to shut it, Nick was asleep at his chair with his head on the sound board. I actually smiled, I haven't seen him like this in awhile so I started to regain hope. "Nick," I whispered slightly shaking him. He mumbled as he turned his face away from me. "Joe just called saying he's borrowing your car and he lost your keys."
