Part 26: Promises

Pag gising ko, naalala ko nalang na may kuting sa bahay nung bumaba ako to eat breakfast.

I saw stella feeding Hailey milk.

Aba sosyal na kuting at whole milk ang breakfast nya!

I approached them and I pet Hailey.

“Good morning!” I said. Tuwing nakikita ko si Hailey, naalala ko si Anncel. She loves Hailey. Mayat may aba naman text sakin about Hailey.

“Kuya!! Wag mo nga sya hawakan!! Maligo ka muna!! Mas malinis pa si Hailey sayo eh.”

“Para naming ang baho at dumi ko!” Then I ate my breakfast. After eating breakfast, I went to my room and took a refreshing bath. Pag baba ko, I chilled on the sofa at nagbasa ng Manga.

Then my dad entered the house.

Stella jumped with joy to see him. Once in a blue moon lang kasi umuwi si papa. This must be something really important

“papa! Hiyaw ni stella sabay takbo papunta kay daddy. I can see that dad is happy to be here too.

“Kamusta ang maganda kong dalaga?” He asked

“I’m fine dad.” She said

“Where’s your mom?”

“she’s on her room.”

Dad went to  my mom’s room and he genly closed the room. I went to my own room and closed the door.

A few moments later, stella came rushing to my room.

“Kuya!” She didn’t bother to knock.

“bakit? At bakit parang gulat na gulat ka?”

“Kuya, since you’re on the edge of finishing your course withing a year’s time or so, dad is planning to send you to Harvard! Pakukuhanin ka nya ng business management!! And he’s planning to train you for running the bussines there in LA for 3 years!"

“No way!” 

Then suddenly, dad is standing there in the door’s entrance.

“Thank you stella for breaking the news. Dapat, bukas ko pa sasabihin kaso nauna ka pa sakin.”

“Sorry dad.” The stella left the room

“Anak, para sa ikakabubuti mo ito. Ikaw rin naman ang makikinabang.”

“Pano si Anncel?” nasabi ko nalang

“If you will grant my wish, I’ll let you marry any girl you want. Kaya anak, wag ka na magpumulit. Ayaw mo ba ng magandang future?”

Syempre, gusto ko. And Harvard is a really good school. I can’t just turn it down.

Months passed and the time for me to leave is slowly coming fast.1 week nalang at aalis na ako. Kailangan nya na malaman ito..

I went to the mall to but a ring. I saw it last time and I want to give it to her. I know it’s early to propose but I just cant let her go that easily. Pag umalis ako, gusto ko may babalikan parin ako. I know it’s selfish but I really love her.

The morning came faster than I ever expected.

I am going to leave. I cant fathom leaving anncel here. Life without her is misery, a life without happiness and a future full of uncertainty.
