Fernclaw padded up to Featherpaw, distracting her from her thoughts on Blizzardstar. "Come," she hissed, eyes gleaming a fiery red. "Let me show you the territory." She stalked out of camp, Featherpaw running behind. "This is the Great Oak," she growled. "This is where we catch squirrels and birds for our hunting assessment." She sprinted ahead, leaving Featherpaw to run after her. As Featherpaw caught up to Fernclaw, she got a sudden strong scent; something she'd never smelled before. "What's that smell?" she asked. "That is the lake." Fernclaw hissed in reply. "Who made dirt in her fresh-kill?" Featherpaw wondered. Now, as she ran behind Fernclaw, she got a whiff of a familiar, yet distant smell. "This is the RainClan border, but you probably already knew that, didn't you?" her mentor smiled evilly. Featherpaw shrank back, eyes wide with fear. Fernclaw let out a purr, but it was laced with venom. "I was just teasing! Let's go home now." When Featherpaw returned to camp, Sunpaw ran up to her and nuzzled her cheek, oblivious to the fact that Leafwater and the hunting patrol were staring at them open-mouthed with shock and happiness. Featherpaw blushed with embarrassment, but didn't care. She too nuzzled him. "It was great! I didn't realize that our territory was so big!" "Yes, it's the biggest among all the territories in the forest. Umm... do you wanna... like... umm... share a mouse or something?" He stammered after a while. Featherpaw flicked his cheek and purred. "Stupid Furball! Of course I'll share it with you! What are we gonna share? A mouse? I'll get it right now!" She raced over to the pile, grabbed a mouse, and went back to Sunpaw. As they ate, Sunpaw leaned in and whispered in her ear. "I will always look after you, remember that." She purred. "Come with me. I want to show you something." As they headed out of camp, they met Leafwater. "So, where are my two little best friends going at this time? It's almost moonhigh!" She inquired. "I want to show Featherpaw something," Sunpaw explained. "Alright then," Leafwater purred. "I won't get in the way. But remember to come back otherwise I'll come looking for you!" "Okay mom!" Sunpaw rolled his eyes. "Let's go!" Sunpaw skidded to a halt beside a fern covered tunnel. "I made this when you were still a kit. I was hoping that now we're gonna be warriors soon, I'll show it to you." He ducked in embarrassment. "Don't worry, I'm sure it's gonna be amazing, since you built it!" She assured him. They went in to the tunnel together.
