Leafwater stopped outside the entrance of Featherkit's den. "I'm moving in with you," Leafwater confessed after a while. "Y..You're sharing my den with me? D..Did Blizzardstar punish you?" "Well...yes. He heard your voice coming from the elders' den, and he asked me what you were doing in there, and I told him that I told you to clean out the elders' den, and Hollyblaze had a new story that she wanted to tell you, and he accused me of being lenient with you, and then did this to me." She shifted her forepaws to reveal her belly, that was usually so white and fluffy, now matted with blood and slit open through the center. Featherkit gasped. "Why did you tell him you told me to? You should've told him that I went in on my own, then he would have punished me instead of you, and you wouldn't have gotten into trouble!" Leafwater let out a soft purr. "I'm touched by your loyalty, Featherkit, but there's nothing we can do now. Blizzardstar has chosen darkness over light, and we'll have to do something to get rid of him soon. Do you know Fernpaw is training in the place where Blizzardstar first learnt the meaning of cruelty?" "You knew?" Leafwater nodded. "I'm Fernpaw and Sunpaw's mother. Do you remember, I left the nursery a moon ago?" Featherkit tried to remember back to that time, then the image came to her immediately. "Yes! I remember now!" "I once woke up to find myself not in StarClan, but in a shadowy, dark place called the Dark Forest. I was shown an image by our ancestors that my daughter was there, along with another old cat I didn't recognize, and he was teaching her killing moves!" Featherkit felt sick. "I saw the exact same thing." "Now we know Fernpaw and Blizzardstar are in a conspiracy, and they are plotting something really bad for HailClan." "Is Sunpaw training in the Dark Forest too?" "No, after I saw that dream, HailClan's previous leader Squirrelstar said that Fernpaw is the only one of my kits training there. Come, show me where I can sleep."
