Familiar Darkness (Sequel to Brothers Again)

Chapter Seven

Danny looked up at the older ghost with fear in his eyes. His body was too weak and hurt to move. Dan smirked as he held up his glowing fist and pointed it at the young halfa. "Say goodbye boy." Dan said. Robin finally worked up the energy to shakily push himself up. He saw his brother being cornered by the elder ghost. His eyes widened with fear. "Not again." He whispered as he quickly ran to his brother. "This ends now!" Dan yelled as he released his shot. Danny closed his eyes as he waited for the impact, but it never came. Robin jumped in front of his brother letting the blast hit him. It hit him right in the chest and threw him across the street. Danny opened his eyes as he realized what had happened. "No!" He yelled as he ran over to his brother. He took his body in his arms. "No..." He whispered as he let tears fall from his eyes and he hugged his brother. The other titans lowered their heads in grief for their fallen leader. Suddenly he felt his brother's chest rise up and down. Danny gasped as he looked up to see his brother's eyes slowly opening. "Robin! You're ok!" Danny shouted as he hugged his brother tightly. "Hey little brother." Robin said weakly as he hugged his brother back. Danny pulled away and looked at his brother. Tears of happiness pooled around his eyes. "I thought I'd lost you." Danny said as he let the tears fall. "Well you didn't. I'm right here, I'll never leave you." Robin said as he wiped away his brother's tears with his thumb. Danny sniffed as a big smile formed on his face. Smiles formed on the rest of the titans faces as well. The biggest of them had to be Starfire's. The moment was perfect. "Well isn't this touching. But if you don't mind I'd like to get back to destroying you know." Dan said breaking the perfection. Danny glared at him. "Are you gonna be ok?" He asked turning back to his brother. "Yeah, trust me I've been through far worse than this. Now, go kick his butt!" Robin said patting his brother on his shoulder. Danny smiled at him. He stood up and walked over to the group. "Watch him." He said to them. Starfire flew over and kneeled next to Robin. "Raven can you open a portal to the ghost zone when I tell you to?" Danny asked her. Raven nodded her head. "Then I'll need you to do just that!" He said. She merely nodded her head once more and pulled up her hood. "Okay the rest of you guys, help me push him back and make him weaker." He yelled to them. Beast Boy and Cyborg nodded and got into fighting stances. "Are you pathetic little children finally ready to die?" Dan said in a mocking tone. "No, but are you." Danny said with an equally mocking tone. Dan glared at him. He charged up his fists with eerie green energy. Danny did the same. Cyborg activated his cannon and pointed it at Dan. Beast Boy shifted into a rhino and got ready to charge at the older ghost. They all yelled as they ran at each other. Dan and Danny shot blasts of green ghost energy at the other but they both managed to dodge the shots.  "You'll have to try harder than that!" Danny shouted. Dan growled and fired more blasts. Cyborg fired his cannon at Dan's head but Dan swiftly moved out of the way. "You'll have to try harder to boy!" Dan yelled at him. Danny gave him an annoyed glare. Beast Boy rammed into Dan knocking him to the ground. He then transformed into a lion and slashed across Dan's chest with his claws. Three large scrapes appeared across the ghost's chest. Green ectoplasmic blood leaked out from the cuts. Dan growled as he grabbed his chest. Beast Boy growled angrily at him. Dan threw him away across the street. Beast Boy groaned as he hit the groaned and transformed back to his human form. A pained look covered his face. "BB's down, we gotta help him!" Cyborg shouted with worry for his friend. "There's no time, we gotta do this now or we might not get another chance! He'll be fine, I promise!" Danny yelled. Cyborg sighed and nodded, turning his attention back to the fight. "Now hit him with your most powerful shot ever! I'll hit him with my ghostly wail. He can't stop me now!" Danny said. Cyborg nodded and charged up his cannon. Danny took a deep breath. "You ready?!" He asked his friend. "Yeah, let's do this!" Cyborg said as he aimed his cannon at the ghost in front of him. "Then FIRE!" Danny yelled as he released his ear piercing ghostly wail and Cyborg let loose a shot more powerful than any other he'd ever shot before. Dan screamed out in pain as he fell to the ground. Both heroes ceased their attacks. Danny walked to the older ghost who lay on the ground breathing heavily. He kneeled next to his evil older self. "One more thing, if you ever come after me or my friends again I will hurt you so bad you'll wish I had killed you right here!" Danny told him. Dan glared at him. "Raven now!" Danny yelled up at her. Raven nodded and waved her hand opening up a portal to the ghost zone. "No, no! I will not be beaten by you again!" Dan yelled. "Hate to break it to you, actually I really don't but you just were!" Danny said as he threw Dan into the portal banishing him to the ghost zone for all eternity. Danny let out the breath he'd been holding as turned to look at his friends. A large smile was plastered across his face.
