Chapter Eight: The Final Chapter

"It's over." Danny said to his friend. "Good. I don't think we could've held out any longer." Cyborg said as he deactivated his cannon. Danny smiled at him. Beast Boy groaned as he began to regain his consciousness. "What happened?" He groaned as he rubbed his head. "We totally destroyed that crazy old ghost!" Cyborg told him. "Aw! I always miss all the cool stuff!" Beast Boy whined. Danny laughed as he walked over to his brother. "Nice work little brother." Robin said to him. "Thanks." Danny said as he held out his hand to help his brother up. Robin took it and Danny pulled him to his feet. "Ow!" Robin yelped as his right foot touched the ground. He looked down and examined it. "I think I twisted my ankle." He said. "That's ok we got you, we'll fix it up when we get back to the tower." Danny said as he put Robin's arm around his shoulder. Starfire took his other arm. Danny took one more look over at where they had banished Dan. "Come on, let's go home." He said as he turned back to his friends. At the tower Robin sat on a bed in the medical bay as Cyborg wrapped his foot up with gauss. "I would say no more fighting for a week or at least not until you walk again." Cyborg told him as he got out a pair of crutches. "Thanks." Robin said as took the crutches from his friend. About an hour later Robin sat on the sofa flipping through channels on the tv. His foot sat propped up on the coffee table with a pillow under it. His crutches rested at his side. Danny walked out into the main room and joined him on the sofa. "Hey." He greeted. "Hey." Robin replied. Danny let out a sigh as he slumped down on the couch. Robin looked over at his brother. "Are you ok?" He asked. "Do you ever think I'll turn into him?" Danny asked. "What?" Robin asked confused. "Do you think I'll ever turn into that power crazed monster?" Danny asked him sadly. Robin's bored expression became a concerned one. How could his brother think he would ever become anything like that insane ghost? "Danny no, never, you'll never become like that!" He said. "How do you know?!" Danny nearly yelled. A tear slid down his cheek. "How do you know I'll never become like that?" He asked again. He looked down at his feet holding back anymore tears that threatened to fall. Robin put a hand on his brother's shoulder. Danny looked up at him. "I know because you're my brother Danny. You're a good person who'd never hurt anyone innocent. You have a good heart." Robin told him. The two brothers smiled at each other. Danny laughed a little. "Thanks, I really need that." He said. "Anytime." Robin replied his smile growing bigger. They stayed silent for a moment. "Plus, that guy lost everything. You still have me and I'm not going anywhere. I promise you that." Robin said. Danny laughed. "Thanks, again." He said. "No problem, again." He said with a slight nod. "So what happens now?" Danny asked his brother. Robin turned the tv off to talk to his brother. "I don't know I guess we'll just see where the future takes us." Robin told him. "I sure hope hope it takes us somewhere better than where we just came from." Danny said humorously. Robin laughed a little. "Well wherever it takes us, we'll get through it together, as brothers." Robin said as he held out his fist. "Brothers forever?" He asked. The smile on Danny's face grew even bigger than before. "Brothers forever, no matter what." He said as he bumped his brother's fist with his own. Both made little explosion noises as they came apart. They erupted in laughter as they did this. Soon the other titans joined them on the sofa. They turned the tv back on and flipped it to some old kung fu movie. Danny's mind was focused very little on the movie though. It still was focused on the future ahead of them. He knew it'd be pretty rough and that scared him. But one thought made him feel safer. The thought that he knew that he'd always have his brother with him. No matter what happens to them.
