Chapter Two:

I woke up to hear the shower running. Walking into the bathroom, I was welcomed with the sight of Johnny with a towel wrapped around his waist, hair wet, water dripping from the tips.

"Good morning," he said, "You fell asleep while we were talking last night."

"I did?" I asked.

'Yeah. No shit," I thought, "Kinda did that on purpose."

"Yeah, I wanted to ask you something."

"Um, I think I'm running late. I promised my mom I would spend the day with her. I'll see you at dinner," I said quickly, kissing his cheek and rushing out the bathroom.

"Nessa!" Johnny called after me, but like last night, I ignored him.

I felt bad, as I climbed into my car, but I just hadn't figured out how I would tell him no. It would crush him before I ever got a chance to explain myself.

Pulling into my parents driveway about twenty minutes later, I realized I was still in my pjs.

"At least I still have clothes here," I mumbled to myself, "hope they still fit."

"But mom," I said, stepping out of the dressing room to show her the modest black maternity maxi dress, "How do I tell him no and not have him flip before I explain?"

"It's too boxy," she said, shaking her head and handing me a different one, "and as for the marriage thing, why are you saying no?"

"Well," I said, throwing the clothes over the door as I changed, "I feel like he's marrying me because I'm pregnant. I mean we've only been together for about three months. That's it. I don't want a shotgun wedding. I want a wedding because we're in love. And if its untraditional, I would rather have a wedding after the baby is born. Maybe give it a year and see where we are. Having a kids could change a lot of things."

I stepped back out and showed her the new dress.

She smiled,"it looks nice. And I think that's a very mature outlook. If you explain it to Johnny, I'm sure he'll understand."

I sighed and nodded, "I hope so."

We picked out a couple more things before making a final purchase and leaving the store.

"I have to go get some shirts for your dad. Do you mind if we meet up in about an hour for some lunch?" Mom asked.

I shook my head, "That's fine. I want to look at Bath and Body Works anyways."

"Okay. Meet at Luigi's at 3?" She said.

I nodded and we headed in opposite directions.

I browsed through candles and soaps, smiling any that sounded interesting.

"May I help you with anything?" Someone said behind me.

"Yes," I said, picking up a candle that mom would like, "Can I get this gift wrapped or something?"

I turned around. And the person behind me was someone I never wanted to see again. I dropped the candle, it shattered on the floor.

"Surprise," the person said, a smirk on their face.

"Sam.." I whispered, fear running through my body.
