Chapter Five:

17 weeks pregnant.

"Morning!" I said, cheerfully bounding into the kitchen.

Ryan looked at me, "Well you're looking happier today."

I nodded and got some orange juice out, "I guess it's with being in the second trimester. I feel like I have my energy back."

"Well that's good," he said smiling.

I say down beside him and wiggled the comics out of the paper he was reading.

"Morning," Bam called, walking into the house from the back yard. Johnny followed him.

Johnny and I had decided to let Bam build our house on the property. With the stuff with Sam it would be better to be close to family.

Right now they were demolishing the pottery barn. And of course them being the Jackasses they were, had to do it their way.

Johnny came over and gave me a kiss. He was all sweaty from the summer heat.

"Do you have time to look at baby stuff today?" I asked him.

He frowned and shook his head, "Tomorrow?"

I sighed, "Okay."

"I'm not much help, but while these guys are busy, why don't I accompany you?" Ryan offered.

I smiled, "Sure. We haven't hung out in forever."

"Take care of my girls," Johnny said.

"We don't know if it's a girl," I told him like I had been doing multiple times each week.

"Well I guess we'll find out next week."

"Guess so," I said, giving him a peck on the lips, "stay safe," I called as him and Bam walked back outside.

"I can't believe we haven't gone out in forever," Ryan said, pulling my chair out as we sat outside at a restaurant.

"I know right?" I said, smiling, "I kind of miss this."

"I know," Ryan said, he sounded kind of sad.

"What's wrong?"

"Well we used to be so close and now we hardly talk," he said.

I reached over and gave his hand a friendly squeeze, "Dunn, you've been more than a big brother to me. You'll always be my best friend."

He smiled at me.

After lunch we went to a baby boutique.

"I'm liking the darker wood," I said, looking at a crib.

"What colors are you doing?"

"Not entirely sure. We were waiting to find out the gender. But I kinda want to know," I said.

"You know that we'll always be here for you and the baby," Ryan said, picking out a set of sheets and handing them to me.

"I like the pattern," I said, smiling. They were a pastel blue and periwinkle. I decided to get them, the colors were pretty gender neutral.

"And I know," I said, putting the sheets in the cart.

"Nessa!"

I groaned and rolled away from the sound.

"Nessa! Wake up!" Johnny said, shaking me.

I slapped his hands away, "What Johnny?"

"We find out the gender today!"

I rolled away from him. It's true, a few days ago, I had hit the 18 week mark. Which met that I could find out the gender.

The whole way to the appointment Johnny was practically jumping up and down in his seat. In the waiting room, he fidgeted and touch everything.

"Johnny, you're like an ADHD kid on crack. Calm down," I said.

In the room Johnny practically paced, waiting for the ultrasound technician to get there.

"If you don't stop, I'm going to tell her not to tell you," I threatened.

Johnny gave me a horrified look and say down beside me.

"Hi Ms. Margera," the nurse came in smiling, "ready to find out if its a boy or girl?"

"Yes!" Johnny practically shouted.

I gave him a look that told him to calm down. He slowly sat back down. The nurse giggled.

She put some of the cold jelly on my stomach and ran the camera over my stomach. A picture showed up on the screen.

I smiled widely. I loved seeing my baby. Johnny took my hand an gave it a squeeze. I looked over at him. He had tears in his eyes but a smile on his face.

"Well Mr. Knoxville," the nurse said, taking a few pictures, "it looks like you better get the shotgun ready. You're gonna need it chase the boys away."

Johnny's jaw dropped and he seemed speechless.

"So it's a girl?" I said, smiling tears in my own eyes.

The nurse smiled fondly and nodded.

She gave us the print outs of the ultra sound and left us, giving us a moment to look at them.

"I'm going to have a daughter," Johnny said, looking at the pictures, the smile never leaving his face.

"WE'RE going to have a daughter," I corrected, kissing his cheek.
