"Fear makes the wolf bigger than he is." -Unknown
Chapter VII
I walk down a pair of steps, holding onto Kol's arm in stress. There were so many people in front of us at the bottom of the stairs. Men, women, alphas, mates, children, and babies stare at me. They look at me as though I was an alien.
"I don't think I can do this." I whisper to Kol and he chuckles, shaking his head.
"You will do fine, all you have to do is make them trust you." Kol tells me and I give him a glare.
"And how do I do that and why are there so many steps?" I ask looking down to see we still had a bunch left to go.
"You will be going through a test. You will have to protect a pup from a fake rogue but I know you can do it." Kol tells me right as we went down the last step. Soon enough everyone and I mean everyone was around me.
"Hello I am..." Was thrown around by everyone. I can't remember anything of what anyone says right now. Kol drags me away from the crowd and towards a guy and Nathan. The man turns around hearing my heels click. I stop, feeling tears form. I put my hand to my mouth, shaking my head at the man I call dad.
"Melody?" He asks and I shake my head more. Kol and Nathan stare at me in concern.
"I can't do this." I mutter and turn around, running away from him.
"Melody!" He yells and I shake my head, trying to get the tears to stop. I push through the crowd towards the door to the garden. Before all of the guests got here, Kol and Nathan showed me where everything is. My dad and I have a bad past together. I wipe my tears from my face, walking towards the maze. He left me when I was younger, I was just learning my powers and he left me. I was scared and I needed him. I haven't seen him since until now.
"Melody." Someone mutters from behind me. I look behind me to see, surprisingly, Kaden.
"What? You here to hate on me more." I glare at him, surprising both myself and him. He shakes his head, sighing loudly.
"I don't hate you." He says and I stare at him in disbelief. I cross my arms and stare at him.
"Just be ready for training tomorrow." Kaden tells me and leaves me alone. I sigh, dropping my arms to my sides. I look around the garden, finding somewhere I can sit. I walk over to the seat and sit down, looking at the little pond that sat in front of it.
"Mel." A voice echoes from behind for the hundredth time. I turn to look at Kol and Nathan. They sit next to me, wrapping their arms around me.
"Tell us what's wrong." Nathan whispers and I look at him, nodding.
"When I was seven, I turned for the first time. My dad was the only one that knew about it and he told me he was going to teach me. But after I told him I turned, the next morning he was gone. Off the grid like he never existed. When I saw him today, I remembered how he left me. He left me alone, when I needed him most." I tell them and they look at each other.
"Hon, he must've left for a reason. How about after dinner and your test, we go and talk to him. All together." Kol suggests and I give them a small smile.
"Okay as long as you're with me." I say and they nod, kissing my cheek. They help me up and link my arms with theirs. We walk back into the party, everyone was talking like nothing happened. I look to Kol and he nods. Nathan lets go of me to go sit at his seat as alpha so Kol and I walk to the other side, sitting next to each other.
"Welcome everyone. Today we have come together to welcome a possible member of our pack, Melody. After dinner we will conduct the test on if she is worthy. But for now let's eat." Nathan's voice echoes and I give him a nice smile as everyone looks to me but then back at him. Many servants walk around, putting food on plates. I finally get the food and eat quickly, wanting to get this over with. After everyone was done, we went outside once again. Nathan hands me a pup and I give him a nod.
"You will go into the forest, in five minutes someone will attack you. Do everything you can to protect the pup." He tells me and I nod, holding onto the pup tightly. I walk to the forest and towards a huge tree. I put the pup down.
"Stay here no matter what." I tell her and she nods quickly. I growl, hearing a stick snap. I look up, changing my eyes to night vision so I can see the wolf that will be attacking me. I notice a black wolf to the left of me and pretend I don't see it. It runs after me and right before its jaws could latch on my neck, I catch it. I throw it to the ground and step in front of the pup, checking to see if she was still there. Once I knew she was fine and the wolf was getting up, I ran at it. It wasn't ready for me to come so it was an easy pretend kill. I wrap my arms around its neck and pretend to snap it.
"You are dead." I mutter with a smirk, dropping it. I walk over to the pup that was still there, picking it up into my arms. The wolf stands up, changing into Kol.
"That was really good. You have passed." Kol tells me and I give him a look.
"And you need clothes." I give him a smirk and he rolls his eyes, but gives me a smile.
