"I am a wolf: it's my nature to be kind, gentle, and loving... But know this: when it comes to matters of protecting my friends, family, and heart. Don't trifle with me, for I am the most powerful and relentless creature you will ever know." -Unknown

Chapter XI

I growl loudly, throwing my clothes into the suitcase. Kol sits on the bed with his head in his hands. I walk towards the closet, grabbing our clothes. Everything has gone to crap since we found out that Nathan lied to all of us. Kol told me about how they thought I was a wolf protector but wasn't sure. I wasn't mad at him because he told me. Also, he didn't know Nathan was keeping that he was a protector wolf too from him. Kol couldn't get his betrayal out of his head and it's killing him. I sigh, putting the last of my clothing into a suitcase. I sit next to Kol and grab his head, moving it so he looks at me. I give him a smile, pulling my hands away from his face.

"I would rather be able to see those big brown eyes than the back of your head." I tell him and he gives me a nice smile. He leans his head on my shoulder, making me lean my head on his.

"Once we get to the palace, will you finally go on a date with me?" Kol suddenly blurts, pulling his head away from me. I look at him in shock, before giving a nod.

"Of course, as long you help me pack your crap." I smirk and he rolls his eyes, giving me a nod. Maybe Kaden is right, Kol is my mate. Kaden told me the only way to know if you are mates, is if you have opposite powers. Kaden and his mate were the wolf protectors of the 1800's. After his mate and the rest of the protectors died, he ran. He met Nathan in the 1920's and stayed with him. Almost 100 years later and now here we are. Kol and I are two of the new 3 wolf protectors. Kaden told me he'd tell both of us everything about being a wolf protector and the rest of his story.

"Melody?" Kol's voice echoes and I look over at him in confusion.

"What?" I ask and he rolls his eyes with a smile.

"You went off to lala land." He chuckles and I roll my eyes, standing up from the bed. I zip up my suitcase quickly before turning to Kol's clothes. Kol stands up quickly, kissing my cheek.

"Go on downstairs, I will be right down. Stay close to Kaden. Don't talk to Nathan." He says protectively and I nod. I grab my suitcase, pulling it off the bed. A big boom falls to the ground and I jump. I walk out of my bedroom, Kaden should be around here somewhere. I think I will try his room first. I walk down the hall towards Kaden's room and knock loudly. A boom sounds and Kaden opens the door quickly.

"Oh thank god. Melody you scared me." He says and I give him a smirk. Kaden gives me a smile that I have gotten used to. Ever since he learned of our heritage, he has been the best brother I could ever have. My confidant, my best friend, and the only person I felt I could trust with my feelings. I push past him, sitting down on his bed, dragging my suitcases behind me.

"Did you need anything?" He asks me sweetly and I shrug, shaking my head. I was only here to wait for Kol until he was done. His mouth turns into an o-shape as he gets why I am here. "I am almost done, then we will go downstairs to meet the other protector." Kaden promises and I nod, making myself comfortable. I lay down, letting my curled hair g all around my head. It was only a few moments before the door opened and Kol stood in front of me.

"Okay, I am done. Let's go." Kaden smirks, looking at me as Kol walks over to me. I grab his hand as he helps me up carefully. I wasn't even that fragile but to Kol I was. He always tells me that I was like a diamond that cannot be broken. We begin to walk towards the steps, Kol held his suitcase while Kaden held mine. Somehow Kaden put all of his clothes in the same suitcase as mine. A beautiful girl stands in front of the steps at the bottom. Her red hair was wavy and went with brown eyes. Kol squeezes my hand as we stop at the bottom. Three bigger guys stand around her like she was someone really important. Well she is, she's a protector and one of the last ones. Her head moves to look at us with a genuine smile. Her eyes follow our steps as I slowly hide behind Kol and Kaden. I eye up the guards, squeezing Kol's hand. He glares at the guards, tightening his grip on my hand.

"Hello." She voices, giving us a smile. I give her a nice smile before looking at the guards. The girl notices where I was looking and how I was standing. She points and they nod to her, walking away. I give her a thankful smile, stepping out from behind Kol. Kaden looks at me to make sure I was okay and I nod.

"You must be Princess Melody." The girl says, grabbing my hand into her tight grip. She shakes it, before letting it drop after a few moments. I nod to her, taking Kol's hand into mine once again.

"And this must be Prince Kaden and warrior Kol." She smiles at the boys and they nod to her. I look at her expectantly and she gasps, before chuckling.

"Oh i'm sorry I know all of your names but you don't know mine. I am Lana." She smiles at me and we all nod.
