Chapter 19: Concert In A Can

Gemma's POV

I walked into school that day and saw Adam, Chase and a random kid I haven't even met yet, sitting around the circular bench in the school hall. I walked over to the boys and said to Chase, "Hey, Chase." And I kissed him.

Chase smiled and he said, "Marcus, this is my girlfriend Gemma. Gemma, this is Marcus, the new kid." Marcus took out his hand and I shook it, smiling at him. He returned the smile and I saw Leo headed towards us.

"Hey, peeps. What's the deal-io?" Leo asked.

"Hi. I'm Marcus." Marcus greeted and he took out his hand for a fist bump.

"I know." Leo said, fist bumping Marcus. "We have gym together. And study hall. And also chemistry." Marcus still looked confused. "We're lab partners." Leo finished and I stifled my laugh in.

"Oh. I... did not know that." Marcus said and turned to Chase and asked, "Chase, you ever play guitar?"

"No, but I've always wanted to." Chase said.

"Well, I'm a jammer as well. My rocking is only eclipsed by my rolling." Leo quipped from behind Marcus.

"Leo, your mom said you played the clarinet for three weeks until you swallowed the reed." Chase pointed out.

"I passed it." Leo said.

Marcus turned his attention back to Chase and asked again, "Here, Chase. You want to give it a go?"

"W-- yeah-- yeah. Sure. Why not?" Chase stuttered and Marcus handed him the guitar. I guess he used his bionics because the next thing you know, Chase was on the ground, playing the guitar like a professional. He stood up, looking a little bit embarrassed and said, "Uh... What do you know? Beginner's luck." He finished by handing Marcus the guitar back.

We headed to our classes and before I could go to my next class, someone pulled me aside. I already knew who it was. I turned around to look at Chase and said, "Chase, I'm gonna be late for class."

"I know." He said, smiling and I smiled back and kissed him. My hands made their way around his neck and I wrapped my arms around him. He held me by the waist and I smiled into the kiss, thinking about how lucky I was. We pulled away and our foreheads touched. I kissed his cheek and they stayed there. I pulled away and hugged him, burying my face into his neck. "I'm so lucky to have you." Chase whispered in my neck.

"I know." I joked and we both laughed. There was a short, comfortable silence before I said, "We'll always be like this, won't we?"

"What do you mean?" Chase asked, a little confused.

"You know... together forever." I said so quietly, it almost sounded like a whisper.

"Of course angel. I will never ever leave you." He said and I looked at him in the eyes.

"Promise?" I asked.

"Promise." He replied.

"Pinkie promise?" I asked, once again and held out my pinkie.

Chase laughed before he said, "Pinkie promise." With that, he interlaced his pinkie around mine and it stayed there. "I love you angel." He said.

"I love you too bunny." I replied and the bell rang, signaling us to go to our classes.

I walked into the cafeteria and met Leo and he immediately started talking to me. "Gems, don't you think something about Marcus is... off?" Leo asked. Yes, he calls me Gems sometimes. It's a nickname.
