"Are we there yet?" Shayne asked for the nth time since we left the house.
"You've been asking that for the past half an hour, baby." I chuckled while keeping my eyes on the road. "We're almost there." I said as I took a short glance at her.
"And I've been hearing the same response for the past half an hour." She pouted. "Huuuuub, c'mon tell me. Where are we going?" She's such a whiner.
"Just relax, okay babe? Don't worry. We're almost there." I said and held her hand to give it a squeeze.
"How can I relax when I have a freaking blind fold on?!" She groaned, clearly frustrated. She was never one for surprises.
"Just please relax?" I begged. I heard her sigh.
"If this is not worth it, I'm so going to kill you Liam." She grumbled but I can hear the smile on her voice.
I love this girl so much.
"I love you Shayne." I said as a smile found its way on my lips.
"I love you too, Liam. Although sometimes you can really be a pain in the ass." She giggled. "Payne fits you perfectly."
"Forever and always, babe." I said. It was a promise.
"Forever and always, Liam." She answered.
I feel so happy yet so sad. It pained me way too much to hear her say those words. I blinked away the tears that formed in my eyes and focused on driving.
"Babe, please don't be sad." She said in a small voice. I took a deep breath.
"What makes you think I'm sad, wifey?" I asked her, fighting hard to keep my eyes on the road.
"You can fool them, but you can't fool me. I know you like the back of my hand..." She paused. "I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault." I said in a hard tone. "Please, just stop blaming yourself for something you can't control." I don't like to have this conversation, not now not ever.
"I love you." She said again.
"And I love you." I said it back. We were engulfed in a comfortable silence. Our band's song, Moments, playing softly in the background.
"Are we there yet?" She asked and we both laughed.
"Almost. 5-10 minutes more, babe."
