Messed Up Emotions

"Are you going to the party tomorrow? Of course you are, you have to." Anna, my assistant asked me while putting some paperwork on my desk. I frowned. "What party?" I stopped what I was doing to look at her.

She did the same, but her eyes showed shock. "The party Mr. Rodgers is holding? The whole office is going. I thought you knew." I shook my head. "What's the occasion?" I asked curiously. "Celebrating the cooperation between the two companies I guess. It starts at seven and dinner will be served too. I'm quite excited." She almost jumped up and down, while I was thinking what the hell I was going to wear.

"Mr. Crawford will be there too. He looked really handsome, don't you think?" she sighed all dreamy-eyed. Jealousy was what I felt. But Ed isn't mine anymore. "I hope I get a chance to dance with him, even if it's just one dance. I would really love to feel his hands on-"

"Let's get back to work." I snapped before she had an orgasm in my office.

As I got home after work, I found David on the couch with his broken leg on the table. "Hey," I greeted him and ruffled his hair. "How're you doing?" He tilted his head back to look at me. "I'm doing fantastic. I should break my leg often." He laughed.

"Don't." I gave him the bad eye before going to the kitchen and fixing something to eat. Something grabbed my leg from behind and giggled. "Hi Tedster." I looked down to see him peeking up. "I'm a dinosaur. Rawr!" He bit my leg and I screamed. "Teddy!" I yelled when that little monster ran to his dad on the couch.

"I have nothing to wear! Might as well not go." I whined and slumped down on my bed next to David, who was watching me in frustration. "Are you kidding me?" He said in a monotone voice. "Shay, how many dresses do you see in that closet? Because I freaking see twenty." Okay maybe he was right. But they were all dresses I've worn a thousand times already. There was nothing special in that goddamn closet.

"Hold on, let me choose." David hoisted himself up and hobbled all the way to my closet. Meanwhile, I flopped on my bed and buried my face under a pillow. Maybe I really shouldn't go to the party. I mean, Ed was going to be there and so is Ryan. No, I won't let them intimidate me.

"Here," David said, pulling out an elegant but sexy purple evening dress. "This will look marvelous on you." I took the dress from him and stared at its beauty. He was right. I didn't even know I had that dress. "You're going to pop every single male's eyes out." David winked and slouched back on the bed.

I scoffed at his remark. I'll show what Ed has been missing and I hope to God that he feels guiltier.

Lisa was applying make-up on my face while humming a song from Florence and The Machine. Kevin would be accompanying me to the party, which I thought would be a great idea because I hate going to parties all alone. "The horses are coming so you better run!" Lisa started wiggling her ass to her singing while adding blush to my cheeks. "Run fast for your mother, run fast for your father! Run for your children, for your sisters and brothers...and I don't the lyrics!" She laughed and snorkeled.

"Sometimes I wonder how you're my best friend. It just doesn't make any sense." I shook my head and smiled at her. I loved Lisa. She's always there for me and I couldn't ask for more. Even though she's crazy at times, she was always a great friend. "Oh please, without me you would be a wreck. I'm healthy for you." She grins.
