The Scary Ed Look
“Meow.” I groaned. It’s too early. “Meeeooow!” I groaned again. Then I felt something touch my face. Slowly, I opened my eyes and looked up at my cat, Boris. He purred and rubbed his head against mine. I checked the time and found out that it was only 10:39 in the morning. Thank god it’s Sunday. “Meeeeeeooooooow!” Boris scratched my cheek. “Alright, alright you’ll get your breakfast!” I said and quickly went into my small kitchen while Boris was making 8-figures around my feet. He purred as I set his bowl of food down and ate the whole thing. He looked just like Garfield. I wonder why I didn’t name him Garfield. Well I didn’t know he would become that fat.
I sighed and went to get a quick shower, just as my phone started ringing. “What now?” I moaned. “Hello?”
“Hey this is Ed,” I froze. “Lisa gave me your number and told me to ask you when to pick you up tonight?”
For a moment I said nothing at all. My mind was imagining how I was going to murder Lisa the next time I saw her which was tonight. Maybe I should do it with a fork. Yeah, a fork’s good.
“Helloooo?” I heard him say, annoyed. “Um…you could be here at six?” I said unsure. “’Kay, see you then.” And the line dropped. Shit.
I quickly dialed Lisa’s number, my fingers punching the buttons on the phone. She picked up after two rings. “Sup?” she asked casually. “What’s up is that you just gave Ed my number! What the hell Lisa?” I frantically waved my arm around. Boris stared at me, probably enjoying the show. “Chill sista. Ed’s good for you. Trust me, I know.” She laughed.
“How can you say that? You don’t even know the guy!” My head was screaming with pain now. “You’re right, I don’t know him. But damn, have you checked him out? He is freakin’ hot and totally matches to you.” I heard some shuffling in the background. “I’m hotter than this Ed dude!” Calvin said. Calvin is Lisa’s boyfriend. They’ve been together since three years now and made a super couple. “That’s not the point! The point is that you just gave a total stranger my number! And I’m absolutely not okay with it!” What does she not understand?!
“Ugh...stop whining and just be grateful I did something to improve your love life. Get ready for the ball tonight and I’ll see you there.” She hung up. She just hung up on me! I slammed the phone down on the table and jumped up and down. I can’t believe she just did that.
I finished getting ready and looked in the mirror. My red cocktail dress suited me and my straight blond hair was down. Boris took a look at me too. “How do I look?” I asked. Yes, I talk to Boris. “Meow.” He said and walked out of the room. “Obviously you don’t like it. Red isn’t your color is it?” The doorbell rang and I suddenly became nervous. Ed was here. He was way too early. It was only five and how the hell did he know where I lived?
Oh, right, Lisa must’ve told him. I slapped my forehead and made my way to the door, opening it. Ed was standing there, with his hands in his pockets, his long dirty blond hair was combed back and he was wearing a really nice tux. “Stop staring.” He said and rudely pushed passed me. “I didn’t say you could come in and you’re an hour early.” He looked around my apartment. “Nice flat.” He said, completely ignoring what I just said.
Why is he so difficult? A guy like him should have a model as a girlfriend. I can’t believe he’s single. Maybe he’s gay and doesn’t want people to know. Or maybe he’s just not interested in relationships at all.
I saw him plop down on my sofa and stretch his legs out on my table. “Hey! You can’t just barge in here and make yourself comfortable!” I smacked his legs. He glared at me. It’s like he had his own look. The scary Ed look. Well, the scary Ed stood up, made himself real tall, and leaned into me. “Don’t ever do that again.” He said. I stared into his icy blue eyes. He has gorgeous eyes.
It’s going to be a long night.
