The wind picked up and the rain pounded on the windows like bullets.
"Y/n! Get away from the window!" Darry said
You rolled your eyes before lowering the blinds. You collapsed on the couch in between Steve and Soda.
"It's just a storm y/n, lighten up." Soda said
"It ain't that!" You snap
"Then what is it?" Dally asked
You went silent and your ears turned red. You pursed your lips at Dally.
"I know, it's her boyfriend Johnny Cade!" Steve teased
The gang started to tease you about Johnny.
"He's not my boyfriend! I don't even like him!" You lied
"Oh come on y/n, I seen the way you drool over him!" Two-Bit said
"Prove it!" You say
Ponyboy left and came back with your notebook that you let him borrow to copy your notes. He flipped through it then tossed it onto your lap.
"Sorry y/n but next you lend me your notebook, rip out the page with Johnny Cade written all over it with the millions of hearts." Ponyboy said starting to turn red
You looked at you notebook and it was flipped to the page where you had written Johnny's name in red pen all over it. You pressed it to your chest and turned a deep Scarlett.
"So?" You say
The gang erupted in laughter until the power flickered out.
"Dammit." Darry said "Soda, Two-Bit, help me with the candles."
You breathed a sigh of relief knowing that the gang couldn't see your face. You felt the couch dip next to you and and arm went around your shoulders.
"Y/n..." Ponyboy said "I think Johnny likes you too..."
"Really?"
"Well, he babbles on about you none stop and is always telling me how good you look...though he never actually said he liked you- it's kinda obvious."
You sat there stunned, you couldn't believe what you heard. Johnny talked about you? Everyone's face lit up with candle light as they played cards. Ponyboy was reading gone with the wind to you when the front door swung open. Johnny was standing there soaking wet and shaking.
"Johnny!" You said as you jumped up
"Y/n, Pony! Go gets some towels." Darry says
Ponyboy grabs your wrist and pulls you into the bathroom. He grabs a towel and you two head to Pony and Sodas room. You stop right outside the door.
"Okay your gonna go clean him up." Ponyboy said
"What? N-"
Before you object Ponyboy shoved the towel in your hands and pushes you inside the room. You try to open the door but Ponyboy was pulling on it from the other side. You turn around and see Johnny starring at you. He was wearing only his jeans. He looked scarred stiff, you took a breath and walked over to him. You slowly sat down next to Johnny and handed him the towel.
"Here..." You say
Johnny dried himself off and looked at you with his dark eyes that had seen so much.
"What happened?" You asked
"M-my parents- I got caught in the storm..." Johnny lips quivered and his eyes shone in the candle light.
It was clear he was about to cry,
"Come here." You say as you put your arms around him.
Johnny wrapped his arms around your waist and rested head on your chest. He began crying, you rubbed his wet hair.
"Ssh." You say
You held him tight and tried to make him feel safe.
"Your okay now, I'm here, I'll always be here for you I promise." You say as you start to tear up.
Johnny looked up at you and you wiped his tears away. He said nothing he just looked into your eyes and kissed your sweetly. That's when the door fell open and five idiots tumbled into the room. It was clear they had their ears pressed to the door.
"Get some Johnny!" Dally said
