Meredith knew that there wasn't enough time to safely exit the forest, so her only option was to hide in the leaves. Meredith sprinted towards an oak tree and dove into a large pile of leaves underneath the tree. Meredith landed on something hard, but there was no time to find out what it was. Meredith had to hide herself. Meredith was now hidden under the leaves well enough that a passer by wouldn't notice her. By now, Meredith's heart was beating out of her chest, and she was gasping for breath out of nervousness. But, she eventually silenced her breathing and became quiet. Because she knew, no matter how scared she was, she couldn't make a sound.
