the best kiss(es) i ever had was from you
i watched your mouth approach eyes half closed
not in uncertainty but in certainty
slow slow certainty and knowing
i saw it in your eyes too
you looked like
you knew this was going to be your kiss of kisses
and my kiss of kisses
and you were just getting ready
and giving me time to get ready
to receive the sweet shock of it
our mouths were masters perfectly matched
and observers looked on because they knew
they would never have it like this
or see such flavour ever again
it was perfect and it was in slomo slomo slomo
even in real time
the taste of it lasted for all eternity
and our lips wooed and explored
like kittens still too baby and blind to see
but wanting to suckle suckle suckle
hunger making hunger hungrier
watching aiming berthing foraging
there was only touch and it never stopped
and i could feel behind closed lids how
the ceiling was spinning and spinning slowly
not evenly but in loops
i had to hold onto you to not slide off the chair
and i was amazed that you could bend down to my lips
and not tip top heavy having breasts and all
a few years later i heard that you had said to friends
i was the best kisser you had ever had -
i had told some friends the same of you -
i still wonder if you'd heard

i love this poem. i remember the feeling so well. if i close my eyes and think hard enough, i get slightly dizzy still. also, love was never in the equation. go figure.
