but right now missing you
is all at once
an acute smart
high up in my throat
and it brings your sandy
laugh straight at me
as i used to hear it
clear as the click of the dice we played
alive
and filled with mirth somewhere
in the veld, in a room
in rhythm with a song
i copied twenty one times to a cd
and played over and over
dancing and
dancing and
i see your eyes aware, blue
ever unruffled
as we sat at five under a navy dome
of harmony in the company
of empty tumblers
listening to the hiccup of the wind-pump's
jagged turn. fire peacefully
alight
sparking baby embers
throwing baby flames.
and their glow
competed with
the morning star
seasofme190513gasp
i can smell it all even now
