I pressed a kiss to his cheek and he stopped walking. He set me on my feet and turned around. Before I could as what he was doing, he had me pressed up against a tree ten feet away from the path we were on, the bark digging into my back. I was surprised by how rough he was being.

"What're you doing?" I asked.

"Be quiet." he hissed.

"What?" I was totally confused. "What's going on, Caleb?"

He put his hand over my mouth, effectively cutting of my voice. I struggled against him. I hated being restrained. He cut off my struggles immediately, leaning in to put his lips to my ear.

"Rogues." he whispered.

I jolted upright, gasping for air. I was drenched in sweat and felt worn out. A warm hand touched my shoulder, and I jumped away from the touch. The nest thing I knew, I was on the hard linoleum.

"Ellie?" a startled voice asked. Calleo's head poked out from the edge of the bed. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah." I said with a chuckle.

He got off the bed and walked around it to sit in front of me. "I'm sorry that I startled you."

"It's alright."

"Did you have a nightmare?"

I nodded.

"Want to talk about it?"

"It was about the rogues." I said softly.

He nodded, understanding. He got to his knees and leaned over me, taking his face in my hands and gazing deeply into my eyes.

"I will never let another rogue within ten miles of you." his voice was solid, holding an unbreakable promise.

I nodded, unable to think of what to say to something like that. It was so heart felt and deep.

The realization hit me like a truck.

I already had a bond with a male.

My mate was already chosen for me by fate.

Calleo is my mate.

If Calleo was my mate, then my father knew. So why was he making me choose? Is that why Alpha John postponed the ceremony? Or was really because of the threat of rogues? I had to know, but I couldn't bring myself to ask.

I opened my mouth to speak when the door opened.

"Ellie?" Caleb's voice rang out.

"Over here." I told him.

His boots thumped against the floor as he walked over to us. As he took in our position on the floor his face became expressionless with anger. "What happened?"

"I had a nightmare and fell out of bed." I explained to him.

His face softened and he let out a chuckle. "Are you okay?"

I tried to keep my eyes away from Calleo's face, which was still inches from mine. "I'm fine."

Caleb looked at Calleo. "Alpha John wants us out of here by three."

"What time is it now?" I asked him.

"One."

"Can I pack or is my mom doing that for me?"

"I can take you up. Alpha John and your father don't want you to be alone at all while your here."

I nodded. Calleo grabbed my elbows and pulled me to my feet.
