I woke covered in sweat, aware of a throbbing pain in my shoulder. Knowing that if I moved to quickly, the pain would increase, I slowly pushed myself up into a sitting position using only one arm.

"What's wrong, baby?" a soft voice said beside me.

I jumped, startled. I looked at the owner of the soft voice. Calleo smiled gently and reached out to run his fingers over my bare shoulder.

"How long have I been sleeping?" I asked him. My throat was dry, making my voice raspy.

"Sixteen hours."

"No wonder I feel wide awake." I muttered.

I looked around the room, taking in my surroundings. We were in our bedroom. The room was dark, but a sliver of light was creeping in from under the door. A soft blanket covered me and Calleo.

"How do you feel?"

I thought about it for a second. Besides the pain and stiffness in my muscles, there was only one other thing I could focus on.

"I'm hungry." I told him.

I was able to see him smile through the darkness. I reached up and ran my fingers over the soft skin of his cheek. He reached up and rested his hand over mine. Then, he leaned in and pressed his lips to mine. A spark of passion jolted through my body, and, if I wasn't awake before, I was now. I was suddenly even more aware of how every touch of his fingertips made me feel.

He seemed to notice this because he chuckled against my lips before moving away. I frowned.

"We have all the time in the world for this." he whispered, his lips near my ear. "But, right now, we have to focus on feeding you and the little one."

I touched my stomach, remembering that I was feeding two now. Calleo slid out of the bed and walked over to my side of the bed. He pushed the blanket off of me and wrapped one arm around my shoulders and slid the other under my knees. As he lifted me up, a stabbing pain shot through my shoulder. I bit back a cry as he carried me out of the room. The hallway was bright, making me realize there was a slight pounding in my head.

"Where's my mom and Matt?" I asked him.

"Sleeping."

"What about Caleb?"

"He went into town to call the packs doctor."

"Why?" my voice spiked with fear.

"Because you need a doctor."

I didn't bother arguing the point that I was still alive.

We were downstairs now. He carried me out to the kitchen and set me on my feet at the table. I sat down and he bent down to kiss me.

His lips felt so good against mine...

He chuckle, sensing the arousal in me. "I like what being pregnant is doing to you." he teased.

I chuckled. He straightened up and walked over to the fridge in the corner of the room.

"What's on the menu?" I asked him.

"I made some pasta salad and hot chicken patties earlier."

"That sounds delicious." my mouth was watering just thinking about it.

Calleo shot me a smile. "I have to heat up the patties first."

"Okay." I smiled back.

I watched him as he prepared the food for me. Just as he was setting the plate of food in front of me, the door flew open, hitting the wall with a loud bang! Caleb came running in.
