16. Russell Franklin's Speech
From Deep Blue Sea (1999)
Delivered by Samuel L. Jackson

Tom Scoggins: I'm opening this door, and I'm climbing out of here!

Dr. Susan McAlester: The hell you are!

Tom Scoggins: Hey, I don't work for you anymore, okay! I don't have to take your orders—

Russell Franklin: Enough! That's enough, now! From all of you! You think water moves fast? You should see ice. It moves like it has a mind. Like it knows it killed the world once and got a taste for murder. After the avalanche, it took us a week to climb out. Now, I don't know exactly when we turned on each other, but I know that seven of us survived the slide... and only five made it out. Now we took an oath, that I'm breaking now. We said we'd say it was the snow that killed the other two, but it wasn't. Nature is lethal but it doesn't hold a candle to man. Now you've seen how bad things can get and how quick they can get that way. Well, they can get a whole lot worse. So we're not going to fight anymore! We're going to pull together and find a way to get out of here! First, we're gonna seal off this pool. [gets eaten]

[Everybody is shocked.]

Tom Scoggins: Oh my God... He just at him. He just ate him, Christ...

(To be continued...)

A/N: It's been a long time since I've updated this collection, but anyway, I'm back... This particular movie scared the be-Jesus out of me, and the fact that such a great speech gets cut short by such a horrible contrivance adds to the horror of the scene... ( >_< )
