Naida's POV

"Mate." I whispered just as my wolf howled in happiness. His eyes were staring back at mine, stunned. Excitement was slowly whirling its way in.

"Mate." his arms were instantly engulfing me in the most favorite hug of mine. I shivered as he claimed me once again as his with that one word.

Goddess, I had missed him.

"Mine, my mate." I froze and gasped as I acknowledged his wolf.

"Your wolf..." I whispered, completely stunned. I knew he had been calling for my wolf, but it felt so weird and oh so good to totally acknowledge him.

"Yes, my love, you woke it up."

I smiled and felt as the days I had been in the dark went away. I held him for dear life, fearing that this moment would vanish and I would be summoned into the dark once again. It felt so good to be able to move. To talk.

We pulled apart and everyone in the room gasped as I opened my eyes once more.

"Your eyes..." Hayden whispered as he stroke my cheek softly, with a light-feathery caress.

"What's wrong with them?" My voice sounded terrible from the lack of use but I paid no attention to it as  I made a move to touch my face. Another hand held my wrist.

"Nothing is wrong with them, I think they are at their purest form." Mom spoke softly while my dad moved behind her and wrapped his arms around her.

"They are shining, like gold."

I opened my mouth in shock and shut my eyes tightly.

"Hey." I felt a pair of lips kiss my eyelids and I sighed in contempt as the tingles revealed the kisser's identity.

"Open those beautiful eyes, don't keep them closed after I had to endure the pain from not looking into them for weeks."

I gasped once more and opened my eyes wide.

"Just one week to be exact, but again, a day seems like an eternity when you don't have your mate around." Dad kissed mom's temple as he finished speaking.

I became aware that Hayden hadn't stopped holding my face until my hands moved to hold his wrists.

I looked back at him and then back at my parents. Everything else could wait. I wanted my mate right now.

"Can we have some time alone?" I desperately wanted to be alone with him.

My mom seemed hesitant, but my dad seemed eager to take her away and make her rest. I wondered how much they had actually slept these past weeks. She did look tired, but the joy in her eyes gave a little color and life to her figure. My dad didn't look any better.

"Of course, dear, we will go back to sleep now. Let's go, sweetie, we will talk more in the morning. See you in the morning kids, sleep well."

My parents retreated back to their room and I felt as Hayden lifted my body, walking back to our room. I enjoyed the warm feeling that his arms gave me, the same heat that held me during the night and gave me the motivation I needed to wake up.

He put me down on the bed softly and I quickly crawled under the covers. I watched with a small smile as he got in too. I understood my parents perfectly now. The strong pull I had for my mate wasn't merely physical, the bond also united our souls.

His arms were quickly around me once more. Everything felt so right. I felt better than ever. Stronger, More determined. Happier.

"I'm so happy to be back." I whispered into his chest, kissing it softly.

"It is so good to have you back." He agreed as he kissed my forehead.

"Even though I was never gone."

"Even though, you gave us a big scare." he shivered and tightened his hold on me.

"I'm sorry I put you through that."

"I was the one to cause it, I should be the one apologizing."

"Nonsense, it wasn't you, I could tell immediately."

"Still, I should have been stronger, I could have avoided it from happening."

"Shush now, it had to happen. It was going to happen sooner or later."

I felt him tense up.

"I mean my blackout. It was going to happen any other way anyway. What you did was out of your control, there was something else, someone else behind it. And I'm going to find out what it was."

"It could happen again, what if I can't stop on time?"

"It won't, I feel a strong barrier in your mind, and your wolf will only make it stronger. I can link you pnly because I'm your mate, not sure if any other pack member would be able to do so."

I smiled as he relaxed and my wolf praised me for being able to calm him down.

"What's his name btw?" my wolf could find out for herself, but there was something about he telling me that felt so different and special.

"I don't really know, I only know he likes using a very colorful choice of words at me."

"That will be alright, wolves can be picky, he will open up to you, you both will learn to cope with each other, and you will reach harmony. Our wolves can talk and communicate even if our human mind can't reach each other over certain distance."

"Gee, woman, you just woke up, how can you have a head to think about so many things this early in the morning?"

I chuckled and moved closer to him.

"I spent a week in the darkness, without being able to talk properly. Am I not allowed to talk to my mate and rejoice in his arms?"

He growled lowly and bit my earlobe.

"You could do so much more than that you know?" I mumbled, trying to come up with more coherent phrases.

But damn, those lips...

He moved to my neck and started sucking on my mark, earning a loud moan that had to be muffled with a hand.

"Hayden..." I whimpered and held his head closer.

"What is it baby?" he groaned as I let out a small moan.

"I need you." We would have a lot more time to deal with what had happened in those last two weeks. Right now I wanted to be as close as possible to my mate, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

"Your wish is my command, princess."

And he did grant my wish.
