Naida's POV
We shrunk in our places, smelling the strong scent of silver in their weapons. I glanced over to Christie, who looked scared but absent. Mindlinking.
I then stared at a pair of feet that were making their way across the hall in which we were hiding.
"I have a bad feeling about this..." Christie linked me.
"No shit Sherlock." I replied sarcastically, trying not to make a sound when I went to give her a small slap on the back of her head.
She let out a small groan of surprise.
I widened my eyes and brought a finger to my lips to signal het to be quiet. She slapped a hand to her mouth and I facepalmed at the sound of it.
The steps seemed to hesitate and shuffle closer.
I closed my eyes, praying the rescue team would make it safely to us.
"Agent James here." I heard the man stop right in front of our hiding place.
"Yes sir, the area is clean. There is just a faint trail of dog DNA." I almost burst out laughing.
Humans believed their technology was so advanced.. Werewolf scents were mostly perceived by our noses.
And dog? Really? And they called us barbarians and uncivilized.
"It isn't necessary... well, if you insist sir. There isn't much to smell though."
My attention sharpened when he said smell. Maybe they had a dog with them? They couldn't possibly be weres...
My wolf became uneasy at the thought. A traitor to its own race?
Then the craziest, yet possible idea ran through my mind.
What if they had achieved to give humans werewolf traits? What if one of them had actually became a were?
My mind was racing, wondering and analyzing every possibility. I knew we wouldn't be safe as long as we were here.
I turned to Christie, deciding we would make it out alive from this.
"We'll knock him out. We need to get out of here as soon as we can without getting caught." I linked her.
Christie nodded nervously and we crouched into an attack stance.
"Now." We went out of the cabinet and knocked him with a head hit, making no sound at all.
"Good job! Now we need to sneak out without being caught." Christie cheered in a mumble, gaining confidence by the minute.
We slipped through the corridors, watching out for possible guards and soldiers.
We got out of the store without a problem, almost yelling at the sight of two soldiers that were walking in our direction.
"Hey!" I heard someone scream and I panicked, watching as both soldiers started runnung towards us, getting their guns ready.
"No." I mumbled under my breath as I tugged on Christie's arm, running away from the place.
"Dogs! I repeat! There are dogs out here! Two females!" I quickened my pace, not wanting to meet any of their guns yet.
"Keep running Chriss!! Don't look back!! Keep running towards the woods! There's a rescue team there! Tell them I'll catch up with them later!!" I yelled to her as I turned around a corner, making the soldiers follow me.
I sped up and fought against my urge to shift. I'd only become an easy catch.
"Hey! You! Come back here!" I heard more men shouting and I glanced quickly just to see five men behind me.
I concentrated and remembered my dad's lessons on fight or flee.
I focused on my legs and arms, coordinating my movements so I travelled faster.
"Nay! I'm safe now!! Just come back!! We are dead worried!! Get out of there!!"
Ignoring her was the best thing now, I couldn't allow myself relaxing and getting caught.
"You heard our captain! Go get her! She's pretty important! Don't let her get away!!" My eyes widened.
This is why I never got out of the pack's grounds, this is why I never disobeyed my parents. They probably know I am the Princess...
I was reaching the woods boundaries now.
I sighed a bit when I heard the men stop and was about to shift when a silver colored wolf jumped out of a street near the borders.
I hesitated, I didn't recognize the wolf. Was it a rogue? Probably.
But what would a rogue be doing here...
He seemed to be looking for something or someone. Maybe he was from my pack and was sent to get me. A soft breeze flew towards me, almost giving me the chance to detext his scent, but then switched direction, revealing myself to him.
But, yeah, a not so friendly growl erupted from it and I ran nearer the woods and jumped in the air, ripping my clothes apart as I shifted into my golden wolf.
"Chrissy!! Where are you guys??!"
"Near the castle already! You safe?"
I sighed and ran towards the castle.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Just think I saw a rogue nearby."
"Jared and Greg are getting you, Chase won't let me go." I tried not yo chuckle at her frustrated tone.
"Normal. His mate almost gets killed!! I told you it was a bad idea to go into the city!!" I replied to her, reminding her who had gotten us into this.
"You agreed to come." I rolled my eyes into the link.
"You are lucky I was with you, who knows what might have happened if I wasn't there Chriss!" I cut the link and went to my clothing spot, where I kept all of my clothes when going for a run.
I sighed as I shifted back, putting my clothes as quickly as possible.
"Naida!! Naida!!! Dear where are you??" I heard my mother's voice call.
"Mom? Mom!!" I squealed as I ran to her open arms, embracing her for dear life.
"Moon Goddess Naida! Don't ever do that again!! What were you thinking???" I heard her soft sobs.
I shed a tear, my arms hugging her tightly.
"I did it for Chrissy, The Goddess knows what might have happened if I wasn't there."I whispered softly.
She pulled back and smiled through her tears, cupping my face in her hands.
"You remind me a lot of myself when I was your age." She spoke quietly.
I smiled back and saw my father coming towards us, more like running though. He almost tackles us to the ground, my mother squealing like a teenage girl.
I rolled my eyes and picked my dad's side.
"Uhmm... can't... breathe.." I pretended I was choking and my dad just laughed at me and let us go.
"Don't ever do that to us, you could have been killed!!! What were you doing in the abandoned city?? Touring the place? Chilling? Giving the humans an easy prey?" I sighed, bowing my head in respect.
He was the Alpha of Alphas after all. I disobeyed and it was my responsibility.
I suddenly remembered the message and perked my head up as soon I could.
"Dad, I'm truly sorry and I hope this never happens again, but right now, there are humans making their way towards us. They intend to talk to you. And I also know they are planning on taking Earth for themselves again soon. They have sent a team to study us... and there are rogues around here, which is pretty rare, taking to consideration that this is the capital of our race."
I took a deep breath and waited for his answer.
He seemed to be analyzing every word I had said. He glanced over to my mom constantly, he narrowed his eyes a bit.
"Let's hope for the best then. If they have the intention to be civilized with us then we will let them be. Nice job sweetheart. I'm really proud of you, you turned out to be one of my best students."
I smiled, my mind still wondering about that rare silver wolf. I thought there were no longer any other royals... and that wolf was a pure colored one...
"About that wolf... we better keep alert our guards and patrols. I feel like it is no rogue."------------------------------------------------------------------------
