Chapter 21

Laura and Rose are laying in their beds. It's still midnight.

"I am hungry and what about you?" Rose asks Laura.

"Me too."

"Then let's look for Hinaba."

"No. I am not that hungry."

"Come on, Laura."

"No. I will stay here."

"Then you want me to go out there by myself?"

"No, you should stay here."

"But I am hungry."

"You can't be that hungry. After all you ate from Hinaba's fruits."

"Yes but you should also think about, that we didn't eat properly the rest of the days. I will look for something to eat." Rose gets up and leaves Laura's room.

"Rose wait." Laura also gets up and leaves her room. She follows Rose in the corridor and looks for her.

"Rose?" She whispers.

"I am here." Rose whispers back.

"What the hell are you doing? Come back."

"Oh I understand. You don't want me to go because you are afraid of being alone."

"We already clarified it okay? You don't need to tease me with that. By the way where do you want to go? Hinaba didn't tell us where her room is."

"It's easy. I will look in every room here. What do you think how I found your room?"

"Okay, but please hurry up. I want to go back to bed. You can't even see your hand in front of your face."

"It's okay I will hurry up Laura, don't worry."

They walk through the pitch-dark corridor. Until they are in front of another door. Rose opens the door. Behind the door are stairs which lead down to a basement. They go down the stairs.

"I don't know why we are doing this." Laura starts.

"Come on, stop nagging. It made me a little bit curious what is downstairs."

"I think it's better when we go back Rose. By the way it's stinking here." Laura urges. Rose switches on the light.

"What a miracle. Hinaba has functioning light. Very strange, that she has electricity."

"Good to know. Now where we have cleared it we can go back."

"Wait a minute." Rose looks around in the now lightened basement. She discovers a picture. In the picture is a little girl with black hairs who smiles. She discovers more pictures of the girl. One picture makes her thoughtful. She carefully looks at it. With the other hand she grabs her chin.

"What are you doing Rose? Stop touching other people's property."

"Hey Laura, come over here."

"What?"

"Come over here."

"We will be in big trouble." Laura unwillingly gets to Rose.

"Can you see that?" Rose asks her.

"Yes, in no uncertain manner. It's a picture where you can see a smiling girl. Nothing unusual."

"Yes, on the face of it it's not unusual. But if you look at the pictures." Rose lays the pictures so on the table that Laura can look at them all.

"If you look at the pictures do you notice anything?"

Laura carefully looks at the pictures, but she can't notice anything.
