Chapter 24

It's midnight. Rose gets up. She sees her mother in a white dress in her room.

"Hello Rose."

"Mum?" Rose asks surprised.

"It's really you?"

"Yes, it's me."

"What are you doing here and how did you get to here?"

"I wanted to see my daughter."

Rose immediately goes up to her and hugs her. Her eyes are tearing.

"I have missed you so, mum."

"I have also missed you, my sweetheart."

Where is dad?"

"He is not here."

"Not here, where?"

"I can show you if you want to know where he is."

"Yes, I want to know."

"Then follow me."

"Where to?"

"Through the forest. There you will see, where he is." Her mother reaches her hand out to Rose. She carefully takes her mothers hand. Rose mother holds her finger in front of her mouth.

"Shh. We shouldn't wake up Ned and the others and also not Hinaba."

"How do you know about them?" Rose is astonished. Her mother only smiles a secret smile. Rose trusts her. They get out of the house and Rose follows her through the forest.

"Where are we going?"

"You should be patient. If so, then you will see."

After a while they are at a certain place, where a big tree stands.

"Here is your father." Rose's mother goes up to the tree. Rose keeps standing at the same spot.

"What does that mean?"

"It means, that your father now is a part of the nature because of his job. He later recognized what he did to other people. He wanted to pay for it being mercyless and hostile to the other people. That's why he asked a wizard to turn him into a tree."

"What, I can't believe that?! Why are you telling me that?"

"Because it is the truth. Rose you should be open for the truth. I wanted to tell you the truth, before it is too late for me to do that."

"Too late? What do you mean by that?"

"Hello Rose!" A voice calls her from behind. Rose immediately turns around.

"Kyle?"

"Yes, it's me. Why are you so surprised to see me."

"Because I left you."

"Oh yes, exactly! And that's also the reason why I wanted to talk to you. You should know, that nobody treats my the way you have treatened me without any consequences. You left me and that hurted me. The days after you have left me I had to take care of my own. It was hard for me. But you don't recognize that."

"The last time I was only afraid of you, Kyle. You have changed since we met the first time."

"You should. I am not the same like we met the first time. I hate you, you should know Rose! I hate you! You mean nothing to me anymore!" Kyle whips out a knife.

"What are you up to, Kyle?!"

"What do you think?!" Kyle starts running up to Rose. She falls back. But Kyle ignores her and runs up to her mother. He attacks her with his knife while Rose watches it.
