Tobias POV
After I see Tris I walk to double maths. I see Lauren glaring at me. I take the seat at the back. Next to where Tris sits. When the bell goes, she doesn't come. The lesson begins. After 10 she doesn't turn up. I guess she needs a breather. Time to recover. Especially after what happened with Lauren. She looked hurt but angry. Like any thing could make her flip, if any thing was said that hit a soft spot. I tune out of miss Matthew and before I know it. It's over. I walk to my locker to meet Zeke and Uriah. They walk up along with Will.
"Hey dude! You coming over to night?" Zeke asks.
"Yeah!" I say. I need to get my mind off Tris and Lauren. We all walk out of school. They start talking about their girlfriends. Nothing that really concerns me. We get out of the entrance and we are free for the week end! We walk out. I swear yelling. I turn my head to see where it's coming from. I see Tris standing over Cody. Yelling at him. I've never seen her yell before. She looks upset. He's crying. She's not crying because she can't. I hear the end of what she was saying.
"Don't you get it! You being here doesn't help Cody! I want to forget! I can't and your not letting me!" She yells at him. I walk over. I've gotta stop her before she does something reckless.
"Tris, you need to calm down." I say. I try to keep my voice calm. She jumps slightly and turns around. I see the anger in her eyes. Cody stands up rather shakily.
"Tris, please I'm sorry!" He begs. She's not done.
"Your a coward Cody." She growls. I take a step back. She sends shivers down my spine. I've never seen her like this.
"Your a fucking coward." She turns around and starts to walk away. She needs time to cool. I won't interfere. He grabs her wrist.
"I'm sorry." He sobs. She pulls away. He turns around.
"What have I done!" He says. I may not like the kid that much. But I don't like to see any one like this.
"Hey she just needs to cools off." I say. "She'll calm down." I hear a screech of breaks. I turn around to see Tris standing frozen as the bus nears her. It feels like it goes in slow motion. I start to run towards her. Cody's in front of me.
"TRIS MOVE!" I yell at her. She doesn't even flinch. He runs in the road just before the bus hits her he launches and pushes her. He gets the full impact of the bus. She's thrown off balance and the corner of the bus hits her head. Another bit of the bus hits her back. People start to run over. Others scream. I run over to Tris. She's the only thing in my mind right now. Her eyes start to flutter shut. She's coughing and gasping for air. Blood surrounds her head.
"Hang on Tris" I say and hold her. Her blood is all over me.
"Somebody call an ambulance!" I yell. Zeke already has his phone out and is ringing them. Caleb is looking after the other boy.
"Don't move her too much!" Caleb yells. I notice that my hands are shaking.
"Stay with me Tris." I mutter over and over again. After a few minutes the ambulances come. A sigh of relief over comes my body. They come straight over. They act quickly. They get them on stretchers. I can tell she's struggling to breath. I get in the ambulance with her and Caleb. Christina also comes in. I raise my eyebrow. Why's she coming. Zeke and Uriah get in with Cody. The girls follow in a car behind us. Within a few minutes we're there. They get her out and I run after her. They push through doors. She's followed by Cody. I'm stopped. I'm told I can't go any further. I can't see her. Her family's not even allowed in yet. I sit with my back against the wall. I gently nod off. A few hours later I wake up to some one shaking my shoulder. It's Will.
"Is she awake?" I ask. He shakes his head. Christina stands behind him.
"We got you some spare clothes." She hands me a pile of clothes. None of them. They must be Wills.
"Thanks." I say. I go and get changes and throw my sodden clothes in a plastic bags. I walk back out. I sit at my spot by the wall. Christina slides down next to me. A question is on the tip of my tongue and it slips out before I can control my self.
"Why are here? I thought you didn't want to be associated with her." I say. She looks at me.
"I-I ummm..." Her eyes dart between me and the floor.
"When I watched Lauren today at lunch, I felt as if I was looking in a mirror. I was just as bad as Lauren to Tris. I decided she's not as bad as I thought and deserved a second chance like every one else." I sigh again.
"Never judge a book by its cover." She repeats my quote of when I told them I wasn't giving up on Tris. I'm still not giving up on Tris. I will never give up on her.
