It's late November and the last of the autumn leaves are beginning to drop. It's been a few weeks since Tobias has asked me out. He's come over to my house a couple of times and we've just talked. We're actually going on our first ever date! I never thought this would happen to someone like me. I just can't believe it. I nervously shuffle around in my last lesson, I just want to get home and get ready. He told me he'll come back at six to pick me up.
"What's going on with you?"Lynn asks making the rest of the girls look up from their work.
"Um, well- well I've got a date tonight." I say. I feel Christina's excited eyes pierce into me.
"Wait! Who with?!" She excitedly whispers.
"Umwithtobias..." I say pretty quickly.
"Wait, what!" Marlene says
"I said with Tobias." I say. Christina squeals and starts to jump up and down in her seat.
"Woah, I think you've set Christina off." Shauna laughs.
"Yeah no kidding." I say as I look to Christina who is literally acting as if Taylor Lautner just walked in the room.
"Guys, show me the money." Lynn says. They all pass her 10 dollar bills.
"Wait, you guys bet on it!" I say and playfully punch Christina in the arm.
"Um, yeah. We thought Tobias would be singing it from the rooftops. He's had a crush on you for a long. Didn't you know that?" She questions and I shake my head.
"We all bet that Tobias would tell us first, Lynn bet we would find out from you." Marlene explains. "Tobias probably told the guys..."
Tobias POV
"Show me the money!" Uriah yells. Will and Zeke pass him 10 dollar bills. I laugh.
"Hey. Hey! You guys bet on me telling you about the date?!" They all laugh.
"Yeah, Uriah bet you'd tell us but me and Zeke thought we would've heard it from the girls. Tris has had a crush on you for a while now." What! Really! I knew there was always something about her when she blushed and smiled. God I'm so in love I can't describe it to her. She's like something I've never seen before.
Tris POV
Finally the bell rings and we head towards the gates to get out.
"What time should I come to your house?" Christina asks.
"What?" I raise an eyebrow. She smiles.
"There is no way in hell, that I'm letting me best friend get ready for her first date by herself. When am I coming over." She asks again. The girls walk over.
"Yeah we gotta help you get ready, girl!" Shauna says with a smile. Lynn just stands there like me.
"Ok, come over at like 4:45" I say. They all nod and walk to their cars. I hobble over to Caleb and we get in the car and drive home.
"So you've got your date with that... To bias guy tonight haven't you?" I nod and turn to look at him.
"Why you asking?" I raise an eyebrow and he shifts uncomfortably under my gaze.
"Um, well... I just don't wanna see you get hurt. You know? Your my sister." He says with a smile. "And I've gotta do that if you hurt my sister, I will hurt you thing." He says with a smile.
"I don't think Tobi would be very scared of you." I laugh and so does he. Me and Caleb are close. I've never had a brother who would look out for me, ever really. It was always Cody looking out for me and we'll... He's in a better place now. We stop at the house and he helps me get our. I look over at the time.
"Crap, it's 4:15! The girls will be over in half an hour." I say and begin to make my way upstairs. I know what your thinking. Half an hour that's ages! No it's not. I've gotta get upstairs, which with a dead leg is pretty tricky now. Get in the shower, wash my hair and get dressed. So yeah half an hour isn't as long as you think. I try to get upstairs quickly, which takes me about 5 minutes. I get in the shower. The warm liquid runs over my body. I massage the shampoo into my scalp and rinse. I quickly (or as quick as possible) get out the shower. I wrap a towel round my hair and another for my body. They still don't know how I got me scars and I don't really feel like telling them today. I hear a doorbell ring. "Shit!" I mutter and get into my room and slam the door. I hear their familiar voices down stairs. Crap crap crap. I quickly grab some clothes. Joggers and a top. I start to make my way towards the door before it swings open and the girls come crashing in.
"Hi Tris." Shauna says looking at me up and down.
"Oh, hi tris" Christina says. They look a bit unsure of what to do.
"Let me go and get changed." I say pointing in the general direction of the bathroom.
"Yeah, I think that might be a good idea." Marlene says. I quickly hobble to the bathroom and get changed. Which takes like 10 minutes. I lean on my crutches and push my self into my room. They all sit on my bed and stare at me as I enter.
"What?" I ask. They stare at me further, until Lynn asks "what are the scars on your back, Tris. How did you get them?" She asks. I take step back. Should I tell them. I should they're my best friends they deserve to know about my past. I won't tell them everything. I will only answer their question.
"You better promise not to tell anyone. Not even the boys." I say and they all nod. "Well, you all know I came from foster care. My father used to abuse me. He would cut me and whip me. I was saved." They all stare at me in shock. Then Christina gets up and walks over to me, tears brim in her eyes.
"I'm sorry." She says and hugs me. "I'm sorry." I hug her back. Attempting to keep my balance.
"What are you sorry?" I ask slightly confused.
"I wouldn't treated you the way I did if I'd of known." Christina says still hugging me.
"I don't want pity. You treated me like that because of the person I was and not what past I came from" I say and show her a weak smile which she returns.
"Now we got that heart to heart over with, let's get you ready for the night of your life!" Shauna squeals and they all join in. Lynn just smiles. I laugh and sit down on my bed as they flick the through the clothes in my closet. They look at the small amount of options.
"Is this all you have?" Marlene asks. I nod.
"I've got a couple of dresses to the hand side." I say and the go there and pull out three dresses they like. Shauna has a cream one. Marlene holds a red one and Christina holds a black one.
"I like them all so I don't wanna pick." I look over to Lynn who is picking at her cuticles. She looks up.
"Fine." She mutters and gets up. She surveys the dresses.
"Hmmmm. Good choices ladies. But I think that Shauna, yours will make her look too innocent. Marlene slightly better, but it's not Christmas yet. Now I know that black is Tobias' favourite colour so he'll love you in that." She says with a smile. I grin her and agree. I would've wanted to wear anyway. Christina squeals again and rushes forward to hand me it. She helps me up and I go to bathroom. I slip into the dress. It's pure black and has lace around the top. It cuts just above the knee, which sadly really shows my brace. I don't care and I know Tobias doesn't either. I look at myself in the full length mirror. I finally smile at my appearance for once. The top half fits tightly around my waist and flows naturally around at the bottom half. I hobble out and go back to my room. I walk into a roomful of gasps and "oh my god Tris, Wow!" Christina gets up. "Time to work my magic!" She exclaims and the girls follow. Brushes rub my skin. This is one of the times I've ever worn makeup. After a little while I open my eyes.I gasp. My makeup is mostly natural, but with some red lipstick and smokey eyes. My hair falls in loose curls which cascade over my shoulders.
"Oh wow!" I say and turn my head from side to side. Shocking my self each time. I finally feel normal for once.
"Thank you!" I squeal. I hear the doorbell ring, I quickly look at my alarm clock. 6:00 it reads.
"Go get 'em tiger." Marlene says and we all walk downstairs. Caleb is downstairs trying to intimidate Tobias. A smirk covers my face.
"She better be home by ten or else." I laugh, which makes them turn around. I go down the stairs and the girls follow.
"Now now, Caleb there's no need for that." I laugh.
"See you guys later!" Marlene calls. I wave and we walk to his car which is a black convertible.
"Me Lady." He says and bows low. I laugh and he joins in.
"Thank you Mr Eaton." I say attempting to do my best British accent. He walks round and gets into the driver seat. He starts the car and we drive away as the sun sets sending bright flashes of colour everywhere.
"Your accent is awful, by the way." He teases. I giggle. His eyes burn an even deeper shade of blue in the sunset. The light brings out his features further making him more handsome then he already is. How did I get someone like Tobias.
"Yeah says you!" A smile pulls at the corners of his mouth.
"You look great, but then again you always look great." He leans over our lips gently brush together and move in sync. It felt perfect and magical. We pull apart after a few seconds. He chuckles a little and I raise an eyebrow.
"What?" I ask playfully. He chuckles again.
"I might be in love you." He smiles a little. "I'm waiting till I'm sure to tell you though." I smile.Have I ever told you, that love is like a black hole. The more you fall in love the further you fall into it. Your love could be infinite, but that's only for the lucky ones. Some times if you fall too far your gonna get broken. Not me. Not me and Tobias. I think our love is infinite. Cheesy, I know but I can just tell.
