FOUR: The Afternoon
The bell rang signalling the end of school. Friday had finished. Darcy walked out of the class room, talking to Jonathan.
He met up with the rest of the group, including Castielle, and planed a meet up on the weekend. Lunch time, Tabitha’s house.
“Okay. So the code name for The Bully Plan is,” whispered Tabitha, “Teebeepee,”
“Ha-ha, okay.” Darcy put his hand in the middle of the circle of friends. Then so did Jonathan, than Tabitha, Joseph, Jasmine, Castielle and finally, Caitlin.
“Teebeepee!” they all chanted and walked off in separate directions.
Darcy walked up to the Pick-Up zone to find his dads sedan waiting. He opened the door, hoped inside his father’s car without a word. “Hey son. How is it going?” asked his dad.
“Good.” Darcy answered.
“Huh. How come you always say ‘Good’?” he asked.
“I don’t know. How come you always ask the same question?” Darcy answered back. His father laughed.
Tabitha felt the best she had in years. Joseph stood at her side, hand in hers. One of the reasons whys she was so happy, was that she had made a lot of people happy. Another reason was that Joseph and her finally got a chance to walk home. And the third reason, Diablo had been shown up by Jonathan. Diablo had been bullying Tabitha for a long time. Ever since that day she stuck up for Castielle. Anyway, that was the past, and this was now. She leaned slightly closer to Joseph. “So Joseph. You want to be part of The Bully Plan?” asked Tabitha.
“Well… I… What if?... I can’t. I have… friends in that group.” This was one of the only times Tabitha had seen Joseph nervous.
“I thought you said it was a good plan?” questioned Tabitha.
“Oh, it is.” Said Joseph.
“Hmm. What friends?” continued Tabitha.
“Uh… Diablo-“
“Diablo? You know he has been a total bastard to me for ages.” Swore Tabitha, bitterness on his name.
“Hey! Just cause your my girlfriend, doesn’t mean you control who I’m friends with!” Joseph came back. Tabitha was about to say something witty, but bit her tongue and walked off. Joseph smiled.
Jasmine walked to try and find her mums car waiting to pick her up. She felt her pocket vibrate so she picked her phone out. Text message from her mother. It said,
Sorry honey, have a hair-cut booked, will be late to pick you up. Start walking down Vermont St.
“Damn.” She said to herself. She picked up her school bag and headed down the street. She walked with her head down, afraid of drawing attention to herself. She heard a group of girls walking by. She looked up. Crap. Popular girls. She thought. She recognised one of the girls in the crowd. Daelyn. "He“ retard!” said Daelyn, “I hope you know how screwed Tabitha is on Monday!” The other girls laughed.
“You have no Idea what’s coming!” threatened Jasmine. This made Daelyn confused. “What would she do, she’s a twig!” Daelyn commented.
“Just cause she is thinner than you!” insulted Jasmine, immediately regretting it. Daelyn despised this comment.
Jasmine shook her head and walked off, then felt the sharp pain at the base of her spine. “Ow, what was that?” Jasmine saw the rock on the ground and Daelyn’s hand retreat from an upright position. “What was that for?” Jasmine asked, suddenly realising the question just provoked more pain; Daelyn had sent a straight kick to her sternum. Jasmine fell to the ground, winded. Daelyn started kicking Jasmine, repetitively in the ribs. One kick landed right in her eye, making her eyes water, tears were immediately evoked from her eyes. Her nose was bloody. Daelyn and her crew left Jasmine on the ground. She breathed heavily.
Tabitha heard loud thumping noises ahead and the sound of someone groaning. She ran ahead to investigate. Jasmine was struggling on the ground, her hair knotted, and her chest vigorously pumping air to her body. “Oh my god!” breathed Tabitha, “Are you okay?”
“Just got the crap kicked out of me by Daelyn and her possie. Ouch my chest! Feels like someone just dropped an anvil on my torso!”
“Were is your mum? Don’t you usually get picked up?” asked Tabitha.
“Nah, she is late, getting her hair done,” she said with spite.
“That sucks,” said Tabitha, “I just found out Diablo and Joseph are friends.”
“What an idiot, he knows what he’s like!”
“Yeah. Call your mum, tell her you’re staying at my house. I think your mum is probably the last person who you should talk about this. You could sleepover at mine and she can pick you up from the meeting about The Bully Plan,”
“Okay!” Jasmine said excitedly and dialled her phone.
