FOURTEEN: The Thirteenth

The rest of the week went fast. Daelyn and her group left all of them alone. Jake had not been seen anywhere. It was rumoured that he was moving schools. Tabitha felt really happy about that. Thursday was completely boring; nothing exciting anything in Tabitha’s mind. When Friday started most people were kind of afraid of pranks. To Tabitha’s surprise Daelyn was at school. It was hilarious watching Tabitha jump at almost everything that came to a little bit of a shock to Daelyn. Darcy walked over to Tabitha, realising that she was staring into deep space and thinking. “Hey. We should freak out Tabitha.” He plotted.

“Good Idea,” smiled Tabitha, “But how?”

“We just scare her… Jump out from behind things and frighten her… If we can find a spider, we should put it in her school bag.” Darcy said with a happy tone. Tabitha looked over at Daelyn sitting at her group and thought of the perfect Idea. “I should put a hard-boiled egg in her bag.”

“What would that do? It won’t break.” Darcy said with great confusion.

“You don’t get it do you. It will start to go off and stink.” Tabitha said.

“Good Idea.” Darcy said.

Tabitha unzipped her bag, took the egg of and happily sauntered in the direction of Daelyn’s back-pack witch was sitting out of Daelyn’s line of sight near the bin. Tabitha walked up as if to put something into the bin, and threw it into an open patch in Daelyn’s bag. Daelyn looked at Tabitha with a funny look and quickly looked away. Daelyn’s eyes were shifting everywhere really fast. Darcy laughed.

Daelyn was scared. Scared to the bone. All day unlucky things were happening. This morning, on her way to school, she was almost hit by a car, scared half to death by a large dog and pooped on by a bird. She looked over at Parish and Sage and as soon as she looked at her they knew she was scared. They laughed a bit at her and she gave them a dirty look and sternly said “Stop it!” but it only fuelled their laughter. Parish walked up to Daelyn and said “Hey. After school we should spray-paint the Halls window.”

“Um… Okay. But what will it say?”

“Whatever we want.”

“But, you do know if we get caught doing it we get expelled, right?”

“Take risks.”

They met up outside the school hall after school after everyone had left.

Parish, Sage, Daelyn and a huge group of other kids all were there to watch and take part. All of them had sworn to spray the window. There was only three bottles of spray paint so they had to share them around. It took them fifteen minutes to make on great looking peace of ‘art’ on the large window. Daelyn was next in line. She made a huge picture of a male genital on the window and walked away. By the time everyone was finished the entire wall, not just the window, was covered in graffiti. Sage looked up at the roof. His eyes followed the line across the entire gutter line.  Then he saw the camera. It focussed on him. He whimpered. “Guys. We are so screwed.”

“Why is that?” asked Parish.

“Camera. There. Run!” Sage exclaimed. They all sprinted as fast as they could, back to their homes, leaving their spray-paint can behind.
