MY clock read 12:00 a. m as I rolled out of bed I usually didn't get up this early but since my mom's job schedule changed I was now getting up extra early before school time to greet her downstairs before she had to leave for the hospital I heard coffee brewing as I pulled my black sweater over my head almost tripping on our almost 100 year old staircase I made my way to my mother who had two coffee cups one blue and one green in her hands seeing me reach the last stair she gently placed the blue cup in my hand while she sipped her own cup with a smile I took the cup and began sipping we sipped for 5 seconds before I broke the silence.
"mom do you have to go to the hospital today? " I asked
"yes I do Cathy you know I must General Rockefeller is coming by to test our experiment. "She replied
"But... but.. mom."
"Look Cathy I gotta go now but I promise that after today I'll quit the hospital job and I'll find another job so I can spend more time with u."
"Thank u mom that made my day." I said
she smiled at me and headed out when I heard the snap of the door shutting I knew she was gone I climbed upstairs back to my bedroom letting my body float into the sheets shutting my eyes I slept.
