Mabel's pov

I blinked my eyes open and rubbed them a few times. I went to stand up but as soon as my tail hit the side of the tub, reality hit me.

"Right," I muttered to myself, "mermaid."

Dipper still wouldn't be up yet, so I waited 'till I heard some movement coming from our room. I shivered a bit every so often. That water was freezing! Sure it was summer, but the air vent was above me! I looked at it through squinted eyes, and yelled, "cures you you amazing cooling thingy!" A bit too loud. "Crud," I said quieter lowering my outstretched arms, and trying to hide in the cold water.

The wooden door creaked open. "Mabel? You up?"

I rose up from the water to reveal a tired looking cervitaur, "heh, heh, yeah sorry about waking you up."

"No, it's ok, I've ben up for a while," he lied, walking into into the bathroom.

"Oh c'mon, Dipper. I can tell when you're lying," I said crossing my arms.

"Well, I was trying to be nice!" He said walking over to the sink. He froze when his eyes wandered up into the mirror.

"You ok there?" I said concerned.

He sighed, "yep, it's just these darn antlers! They're bigger!" Sure enough, they were. They we're at least an inch longer, and the spikes had also grown. I could see where they were starting to angle forwards like a whitetail deer. They also had a good amount of fuzz on them.

     "Oh c'mon, Dipper! They're cute!"

"Thanks," he said sarcastically, "hey, take a look in the mirror yourself, my antlers aren't the only things that's changed between the two of us!" He lifted me out of the water and put me on the counter.

"Woah! My ears! Cool, they're fin things!" Yep, my ears were fins. They were now dark pink shafts that had a light pink membrane that got lighter and lighter in each of the three segments.

"Yeah Captain Obvious, every day, we get more and more monster-like, and less and less human," Dipper said putting me on his deer back. I felt a little guilty about my water getting all over his fur.

"Yeah, you don't think... we're gonna turn fully into animals, right?" I asked.

"Uhh, I didn't think about that. I hope not. But, but until, or if we don't, find a way to fix this, we're stuck like this," he said looking at me.

"Well, duh!" I said, elbowing his nearest leg.

"C'mon, let's go get breakfast," he said walking out the door. He stumbled down the stairs and into the kitchen.

"Hey, Kiddos," Stan said looking up from his news paper up at us, "Woah, what  up with your ears?"

"Hey Grunkle Stan!" I said as Dipper set me in my chair.

"Same thing that happen to us in the first place," Dipper said as he got out a box of cereal from the cabinets.

"Great. Did something like this happen to you? I just wanna get all the details before we tell your parents," Stan said rubbing his eyes with his index finger and thumb.

"No, it was the same. At first it was just my legs. The next morning my ears were the same and my antlers showed up," as he spoke, he set down the milk, cereal, spoons, and two bowls. He pushed the cereal box, and a bowl at me, and finished his sentence looking at Stan.
