I spent most of the afternoon trying to think of another gift for Toothiana. After all, she gave me plenty of gifts throughout my childhood.
Alex sighed over the phone. "The only other thing I can think of is a dress, but that's way out of your budget, man."
I rolled my eyes, moving the phone a bit closer to my ear with my shoulder. "She won't like the dress. It has to be much more special than that." I reached for the juice at the back of the fridge.
Alex huffed. "Well how am I supposed to help you with this if you're such an expert?"
I felt my face fall. "... I'm sorry, I thought you said you were the expert here."
He laughed. "Hey, you're the one that called me. What else was I supposed to say?"
I took a cup of juice up to my room. "Just help me come up with something. She's pretty much my girlfriend now."
"Does it have to be now?"
"No."
"Then slow down. We have time." He laughed. "Alright, so what's she into?"
I shrugged as if he could see it. "When I was at her place there was a lot of gold tiles everywhere." I opened my laptop, typing in a search bar. "Now that is out of my reach."
"Alright, so she's a little princess."
"QUEEN."
"Ugh. Queen. Maybe she's into some sort of jewel. Do you know her favorite color?"
I looked at the image results of tooth fairy on my laptop. "Maybe she'll like a wand."
"What? Are you stupid?"
I shook my head. "I'm looking at images and all the tooth fairies had wands, but Toothiana doesn't have one."
"Well she doesn't have a crown either."
"Damian?"
I jumped up, closing my laptop. "Toothiana." I laughed a bit nervously. "You're earlier than expected."
She smiled, rubbing her arm. "I just really wanted to see you, and I noticed your parents are out of the house. Is that... normal?"
Alex gasped loudly. "Is that your girlfriend I hear? Are you guys going to suck face? Are you going to be safe? You have protection right?! Dude I know your parents aren't home."
My eyes widened, and I hung up, smiling at Toothiana. I took a deep breath. "My dad's working over time, and my mom is out at some birthday party." My phone rang, and I pushed the decline button.
"Oh." Toothiana nodded, raising a brow. She smiled again. "I can see why you loved going to the park then."
I paused, then smirked. "You looked into my memories didn't you?"
She looked away, pushing back a few feathers. "So what were you doing on that?" She pointed to my laptop. "I've heard that it's like having the world in your hands."
I tried to hide my smile as I scratched my back. "Just talking to a friend."
She sat on the end of my bed, facing me.
I stood up from my desk chair and stood in front of her. "Is something wrong? You look a bit anxious."
She grinned. "It's not every day that someone who is old enough to like me does." She flew to me, embracing me. "And I've missed you."
I paused, slowly resting a hand on Toothiana's back. "I've... missed you too."
She moved back. "Let's go." She took a hold of my hand and we flew out to her palace. The baby teeth surrounded me again, but this time they kissed my cheeks as many times as they could before Toothiana told them to head off. I assumed she turned back to where I was because she gapsed.
