I've felt empty for the past few weeks. I don't remember anything happening before this. All I remember is that I was constantly looking for a girl... and it ended badly. But everything Alex says must be true if he says it and has texts proving it. He's constantly coming over asking if I'm okay and if I remember anything. However, the only thing I remember of the tooth fairy is the night she told me I was dreaming. It was so long ago, it feels like a dream.
Alex placed a hand on my shoulder. "Hey."
I jumped. "Sorry. This is still just... so hard to grasp."
Alex sighed. "I know. I don't know what actually happened after you sent the last text, but I imagined you fell asleep."
I paused. "I do remember she kissed me and her saying my name." My eyes narrowed. "It was the night before I woke up and texted you. It felt..."
Alex's eyes widened. "Wait. Are you remembering something right now?"
"I don't know. That's all I can remember and even that's a blur." I sighed. "Besides that I only remember the night that happened years ago."
Alex paused then nodded. "I just hope it all comes back to you." He smiled and stood up. "For now I have homework. I'll come over tomorrow."
I shrugged, turning back to my desk. "No one will be here anyway."
Alex looked at me frowning. "Maybe, maybe not." He walked down the stairs.
I held my head on my desk. I closed my eyes, engulfing the silence and concentrating on everything Alex told me. I tried piecing it together to try to remember something, try to see some vivid memory. In a flash, I saw her laugh and grin, but it went away as fast as it came.
I sat back in my chair and slowly rolled around my room. I was tired, and I couldn't think. Alex's words were hitting me like a wall now. I believed him, I just couldn't remember. And more than believing I wanted to feel those memories. Shaking my head, I opened my drawer with my notebooks and scrapbooks. My eyes widened when I opened the drawer. I saw a small ring made from ruby.
I didn't remember putting it there. I saw that it was on top of a golden tooth with an engraved D and a tiny box. I grabbed the ring and my eyes widened as it began to glow.
I saw my own hand holding out rings to the tooth fairy. "I uh... I didn't know which finger you preferred to wear a ring on, so I bought one for every single one."
The vision vanished quickly.
I saw that my hands were empty and the ring was on the floor. I picked it up, but nothing happened. I looked at the golden tooth in my drawer. I picked it up and heard a kind voice say my name cheerfully. I blinked and shook my head. I moved the tooth around in my hand, but nothing happened. I looked at the box and held it. Nothing happened.
I raised a brow and lifted the top of the box, opening it. Instant flashes of the tooth fairy and I came into in my head. She held me, caressed me, kissed me. I could feel everything I felt at the time. I was breathing hard as I remembered everything. Toothiana. Her eyes. Her feathers. Her laugh. Her smile. I picked up the phone and sent a text to Alex.
I remember. I love her.
