I opened a door and saw no one was using the room. "Ah, this one. Come on." I flew inside and let Jack's girlfriend in. As I took out some covers from a drawer, her eyes narrowed noticing a ring made of ruby on my finger.

"Did someone give that to you?"

"Hm?" My head moved up. "Oh." I held my hand with the ring on it. "Yes. But..." I caressed the ring, feeling a frown appear on my face. I tried to remember his face, but all I saw a blur again.

"What's wrong?" She took a step towards me.

I pursed my lips. "I can't remember who gave this to me."

"Why?"

I sighed, remembering Pitch's word two years before. "I think I got rid of the memories of him. I didn't want something like this to happening."

Her eyes widened. "Wait, but you loved him right?" She froze.

I paused. "I think so. After all, I can't see any other reason for not remembering him. He was such a sweet guy, but I probably wanted him to be safe."

She blinked. "But wouldn't fighting for him be worth it?"

I paused again, considering what was happening right now. I thought about how Jack was fighting for this girl to be safe from Pitch right now. He didn't choose the path I chose. I nodded and embraced Jack's girlfriend. "Thank you so much." I pulled back, my hand still on her shoulder. "There's something I have to do now. It's been two years since I've seen him. And don't worry I'll leave a yeti in charge of you." I flew to the door and looked back at her. "If the guardians ask, tell them went to find some help."

She nodded and I flew out to my palace. I reached the room with my memories on top of the pedestal. I closed my eyes and focused on the memories with the boy. Little by little, his face came together. I could see his green eyes looking at me sweetly. I could see how I ruffled his brown hair. I could see his smile every time we arrived at the palace. His voice came back, saying my name, laughing with me, and sharing things about his life with me. I grew warm inside as the memories came back.

"I love you, Toothiana."

I paused, remembering all the sweet and horrible things that happened between us. My breath was heavy as I felt tears behind my eyes. "Damian." I closed my eyes tightly and flew to his house.

I gasped when I noticed his room was empty. The walls were bare and floor was cold. It was like no one had been in that room for months. There was apparent dust on the wood floor. I hovered to the closet, but it was empty. I looked back at the empty room, wondering what happened and where he could be.

I crossed my arms and flew out. I wasn't ready to give up, but I had no clue where I could find him. I sat on the edge of a building, watching everyone go about their day as the sun rose to its highest. Mostly teenagers kept coming in and out of this building. I wondered if Damian would come here. Then, I gasped noticing the same black jacket from two years before. It had to be him across the huge street. "Damian!"

He looked around and spoke to his friend next to him. I began to fly to him. "Damian!"

Damian looked up at me and grinned.

"Kitty! No!"

We both paused, noticing a girl running into the middle of the street and a car honking. Damian and his friend ran to help the girl and I tried to fly to her. But Damian and I were faster. I closed my eyes tightly when I heard the car honk.

I was hovering right above Damian and the girl. There was blood all across Damian's back. The girl lied still in Damian's arms with blood in her hair. I looked to Damian's friend and he was breathing heavily. He looked from Damian to me with wide eyes.

The adult got out of the car. "Oh my god." His hand began to shake. "The breaks weren't working I swear." He held his head. "They weren't working I swear."

A woman walked to the girl. "Julie?" She got on her knees next to the girl. "Julie!?"

"Mama?" She weakly opened her eyes with a slit.

The woman grinned. "It's okay." She took her child and looked at Damian.

"Damian?" I hovered closer, but there was no response.

His friend squatted beside him. "Damian!"

His friend and I rolled Damian onto his back. Half of his face was crushed. I gasped, placing a hand over my mouth. It was clear there was blood in his mouth. "Damian?" I placed a hand on his chest, but there was nothing. I looked up, noticing a figure with a blue cloak was standing over Damian. "No..."

He put his scythe away.

My eyes widened. "No! I didn't even see you split the life force!"

"Don't worry Toothiana." The figure disappeared into a blue clock below him.

I looked back at Damian, who wasn't moving. I heard an ambulance come. Damian and the girl were taken in the vehicle and I followed. I lost track of him inside the hospital, but I found his friend. He stood up when I entered the room.

I frowned. "Is he alright?"

He kept his eyes on the floor. "He saved the girl a lot faster and safer than it seemed." His eyes glaced at the girl as she passed by in a wheel chair. He looked back at the ground. "His face was crushed because he used his head to lift the girl's head so it wouldn't scrape the ground. He died because... the car hit his back so hard it crushed his lungs. He was alive for five seconds after the hit, but at that point his lungs were filled with blood."

I froze. "He...was alive..."

We stood silent. The friend looked up at me. "I'm sorry Toothiana. He would've been happy to see you again. He was looking for you for two years after he remembered you."

I felt myself lower in elevation. "I had a feeling..." I looked at the boy. "How can you see me? How do you know about me?"

He weakly smiled. "I was Damian's best friend, Alex. He told me everything and helped me keep my belief in the guardians."

I placed a hand on his shoulder. "I'm sure he'd say the same... Thank you for everything." I embraced him and left back to my palace. I sat at the pond Damian gave me my gifts. I placed a few paper boats on the water, remembering how he tried to help one move fast but slid in. His laugh echoed in my mind.

I weakly smiled to myself.

Damian, I'm glad I saw you one last time. I loved that last smile you gave me. I looked at the setting sun. You will always be my guardian.
