J - A Meeting
Here I am at my precious pavilion, thinking about the past events. The pavilion brought me peace and I sighed. I inhaled the fresh air and took in the beautiful scenery. The sun brought enormous rays of sunshine unto the park but breezes grazed the place every once in a while. It was wonderful. But then a shadow covered a ray of sunshine that's hitting the small round table in the middle. I looked up and I saw Czerina. In a way, I got annoyed. She blocked the view and I've been seeing her the whole week. But something about her caught my eye. Her long brown hair caressed her face. She tucked her hair behind her ears but a strand fell. Her eyes were like mine but softer. They may be soft but quite peircing. As if she's looking into my soul. Her face is flawless and it looked stunning when a ray of sunshine hit one side.
She was actually beautiful.
"Is there something wrong?" she asked. Her voice sounded clear. It's as if my sight and hearing were clarified. I was still caught by her beauty but I decided to stare at the floor.
"Nothing," I said, surprising myself that I didn't stutter. "I just love the view."
She blushed and smiled shyly. "Mind if I sit beside you?"
"No." She sat beside me and rocked back and forth. I sensed her nervousness. I acted like I didn't and just looked outside.
"Why do you trust me?" she asked me. I really didn't want to make an effort to talk to her. I was happy and contented that we were just sitting there. I took her question into consideration.
"You kept my first secret, which I accidentally blurted out."
"Right."
This time, I asked her a question. "Why are you here, Czerina?"
"I wanted to think. This week was quite eventful." She answered. Awkward silence followed and the only sound that we heard was the tapping of her shoes on the ground. She was really nervous.
"Are you ok?" I asked and placed my hand on her shoulder lightly. I felt her body tense. "Czerina?"
"I'm alright." She assured me with a smile. It was convincing enough but something told me that I'm making her uncomfortable.
"I'm making you uncomfortable, aren't I?" I asked.
"You have, since the day you told me one of your secrets."
"Why is that?" I raised one eyebrow in question and crossed my arms on my chest.
"I don't know!" she blurted out. "You gave me a burden of responsibilty." She protested.
"I'm not the one who asked the question!" I answered back. She glared at me but her eyes told me that she knows that I'm only teasing.
"Could I ask you another question?" she said. I smiled.
"Sure. Just consider the consequences first." I joked. She chuckled. She ran her hand through her long hair twice.
"Why do you always call me by my first name? I mean, yeah, you call the others by their first names. But not as often."
"Seriously, Ms. Jackson? Why is it such a big deal to you?" I teased.
Her already pink cheeks turned into crimson. She covered them with her hands and bowed her head.
"I'm sorry. I never intended to be too . . . comfortable." I apologized sincerely.
"What do you mean?" she asked as she raised her head.
"I tease when I feel comfortable with a person. It's weird. I trust you and I feel comfortable around you." I didn't turn to see if she blushed again. I didn't know why I said that, though. Nor why I felt that way. Our conversation should have been more formal. More like a teacher-student conversation. But. . . but what?
"Sir? I have to go now."
I snapped my head to the direction of her voice. She was smiling faintly at me and still blushing. It was crazy how she could blush so much. I found it funny. She walked out of the pavilion and a few moments later, I saw her cling to her friend Natalie. She climbed into a car, presumably hers, and drove away. I found myself looking at her the whole time she left.
I suddenly remembered the girl who gave notes to me. I can't have distractions now. She should be the girl that I'm focused on to know, not Czerina. Speaking of girls, I'm calling Mia. She picked up after four rings and she sounded frantic.
"What?! What happened now?!" she asked.
"Nothing. I just wanted to talk to you." I replied.
I heard her sigh on the other end. She's so dramatic sometimes. "I thought something bad happened again. Remember the last time you called me? You said your kitchen was on fire and there was no one with you."
"I know." I said, remembering the whole scene. A small fire started and almost burned the whole kitchen. And that was when I attempted to cook something. I seriously suck at cooking. I called Mia that day and she immediately came over. We extinguished the fire quickly and plopped on the sofa. Then we laughed.
"So, what did you want to talk about?"
"I'm confused."
"You always are." She joked. "What about?"
I figured that it would be awkward talking to her about Czerina. My left hand shut my phone. I didn't realize until later that I hung up on Mia. Damn, she's going to kill me. She might come directly to my home and kill me. She has the worst temper. Even I curl into a ball when I see her face heating up.
I went home with some fear in my heart. Seriously. I unlocked the gate then the main door and went in. I flicked open the lights. The whole first floor of our house is deserted. I dashed upstairs. I found the door to my parent's room open. They were watching American Idol together. They looked so sweet. I wished once and visualized myself with the girl I love, just us, watching our favorite movies. Cheesy, I know, but sweet. My younger sister's room was locked so that just meant that she went out. I went into my room and rested.
Czerina's face flashed through my eyes before I drifted to a deep sleep.
