Chapter 35 : Brother

The game came finally and I was stuck with Adam pushing me around in a wheelchair so I can take pictures.

"I say you just relax." Adam says. I shake my head and Adam sighs pushing me towards the LA Kings mascot.

"Your Jonathan's girlfriend?" I hear someone says. I turn and see a boy and a girl around my age. I nod and they smile.

"I'm Jay Flats and this is Carrlyn Bathe, we're the in-arena hosts." Jay says smiling as he sticks out his hand for me to shake.

"Your his wife?" Carrlyn asks noticing my ring. "Fiancé." Adam says smirking. Jay smiles and nods.

"Aren't you Jeff Carter's sister too?" Carrlyn asks. "Ya." I say smiling. "Well ain't that something." She says smiling.

I chuckle and they both turn to the game. "You wanna be on the screen?" Jay asks. "Oh no thank you." I say laughing nervously.

"Sure you do." Jay says as the camera's face me.

"We're joined here today with the one and only Alina Kane, also known as Jeff Carter's sister and Jonathan Toews Fiancé." Jay says.

The crowd boo's at my jersey which of course is a Blackhawks jersey.

I blush and laugh at my red face. Jay chuckles and they turn the camera towards Carrlyn and Jay.

Adam laughs and I see Jonathan and Jeff on the ice trying so hard not to laugh as they get some water.

After the game Adam takes me to the Blackhawks locker room. As soon as I walk in they all greet me with hugs.

"You guys are all sweaty." I say pushing them off me. They all smile and I notice Jonathan was in a post game interview. Adam stick around to listen what he was saying, but then go to the Kings locker room.

Alec and Jonathan greet me with a hug. "You should of seen your face on the screen." Jeff says laughing.

I glare at him and he smiles grabbing a shirt.

"You coming over for dinner?" Jeff asks. I shrug and he frowns. "You should go, Kayla should be there." He says.

"Who's Kayla?" I ask laughing. "My fiancé." Jeff says smiling. "Fine I'll go." I say smiling.

He nods and I yawn.

Jeff chuckles and puts on a hat. "Let's get going." He says as he grabs his keys.

When we get to Jeff's house Alec, Andy, and Tyler are there waiting outside.

"You do know Kayla is home." Jeff says knocking on the door. "Oops." Alec says laughing.

Jonathan grabs ahold of my hand and I smile.

"Well aren't you guys cute." Jeff teases as Kayla opens the door.

She smiles and the smell of chicken hits me.

We all walk in and she turns to me.

"You must be Alina." Kayla says smiling. I nod and she raises an eyebrow.

"Your Jonathan Toews." Kayla says. "Yup." Jonathan says awkwardly.

"Your on the Chicago Blackhawks." She says. Jonathan nods and Kayla turns to me.

"Alina this is Kayla." Jeff says.

I smile and shake her hand. "And her fiancé Jonathan." He adds. Jonathan smiles at her, but doesn't dare to touch her.

"Nice win today baby." Kayla says kissing Jeff.

The boys cheer and Jonathan and I stay quiet.

"Anyway right this way." Kayla says leading the way to the kitchen.

When dinner was served we all eat in silence.

"You okay?" Jonathan whispers. I nod and he turns back to Kayla who hasn't stopped talking about how good the team is this year.

"Please stop." I whisper. Jeff and the boys turn to me and Kayla stops talking.

"Excuse me?" Kayla asks smiling nervously.

"I get it. The Kings won tonight, but you just can't keep dragging the same topic." I say putting my hand on my head.

"Don't be mad it's only one lost." Kayla says. "Both of you stop." Jeff says. Kayla blushes and I sigh.

"Fine Alina why don't you talk about your job." Jeff says. "It's great." I say putting my fork down.

"And?" Kayla asks. "That's all there is to it." I say.

Kayla nods and Jonathan turns to me.

"Are you serious Alina?" Jeff asks. "What?" I ask. "Kayla cooked this wonderful dinner and you just came in and ruined it." Jeff says.

"You invited me so I didn't just come in and ruin everything." I say.

"Your still the same stubborn and mean person you were. Thank god I left." Jeff says.

Jonathan stands up and Kayla chuckles. "Let's go Alina."

I stay still as everyone stares back and forth at me and Jeff.

"Alina I didn't mean to." Jeff says. "It's fine." I say standing up. Well trying to.

"Alina wait." Jeff says. "What?" I ask as I grab my crutches. "I'm sorry."

"You act like your perfect. Just know that your the same selfish and self centered person too." I say before Jonathan opens the door for me.

"I thought she'd never leave." Kayla says. I ignore her and Jonathan and I leave without saying another word.

The next day we were all packed to go to our next stop. Minnesota.

Alec and Tyler were in our room though. Saying their goodbyes to me.

"So when will you two be back?" Tyler asks. I shrug and throw my backpack on my shoulders. Alec nods and points to my cast.

"What about your cast? When will it be off?" Alec asks. "Look both of you don't need to pretend like you care." I say as Jonathan leaves the room.

"But we do." Alec says. It was quiet for awhile, but then I nodded and we all started carry my bags to the car.

"Alina!" I hear someone yell behind me. I turn and see Jeff running towards me.

I quickly get into the car and say goodbye to Alec and Tyler. "Alina-"

"Jeffery there's nothing else to be said. You said it all yesterday I get it. Now please we're going to be late for our flight." I say.

Jeff frowns and steps away from the car.
