I'm skipping what happened during the first season and the first half of the second season. Everything that happened is basically the same, just imagine Mabel doing it by herself as a mermaid......yeah...

The room flooded with a bright flash of light, with Mabel at the center. She screamed, her tail flapping wildly as the white light clouded her vision. Soos and Stan screamed, also, and they were also blinded.
Then, suddenly, everything came crashing down. Literally. Debris that was previously flying through the air crashed to the ground. The monsters also slammed into the hard concrete floor, unconscious. But not for long.
About five seconds later, they all groaned and looked back at the portal like device. They waited for something, anything to happen. Then a blackened shadow appeared from behind the swirling blue void, getting closer.
The shape stepped out, and everyone in the room looked on in awe. Standing in front of them was a cat like monster with colorful wings on its back. It was draped in black clothing with metal boots on each of its four massive paws. They must have been five feet tall on each of its four furry legs, making it ten feet if it would ever rear up on its hind legs. A black mask accompanied it's muscular figure, covering all but it's mouth.
"Wha...who is that?" Mabel asked to no one in particular. With all that she's been through these couple months, this had to be the most surprising.
Stan rubbed the top of his stoney head, looking at the creature that stepped out more closely.
"The author of the journals......my brother." Stan said, and at the exact same time, the creature now identified as Stans brother ripped their mask off, revealing a face almost exactly identical to Stans.
Mabel and Soos's Mouth opened in awe. Then soos broke the awkward silence by saying, "Heh, I think I'm about to pass out now..." as his gelatin like figure fell onto the ground next to Mabel, who was lying on the floor, unable to move, both from shock and due to the fact she didn't have legs.

Cue backstory and "Tale of Two Stans" plot...OK now we're back to the story three days later!

"I have a question." Mabel stated from her seat at the diner table. Of coarse, it wasn't really a seat, more like a chair with a bubble of water on it.
"Fire away" Stan replied with a mouthful of chicken, which his brother, Stanford, thought was absolutely disgusting.
"If your twins, then how come your a gargoyle and your a..."
"Sphinx" Ford finished, making sure to chew his food before replying.
"OK, so how exactly are you twins, then? Your different species, any it impossible?" Mabel finished, taking a big bite of her ceaser salad.
Ford stopped his fork full of pork, and instantly pushed himself out of his seat. The sudden movement startled the two others. Mabel looked at Ford with a questioning look, while Stan looked at him with a look of understanding.
"I'm going out for a flight, should be back before midnight." Ford exclaimed, going on all fours and speed walking out of the house, leaving Stan alone to explain why he stormed off and why they were twins.
Busting open the door, Ford rushed into the crisp sunset air, and ran a little before pushing off the ground with his powerful wings. In only three flaps he was above the pine trees, soaring with anger in his veins. Not directed at Mabel, but at the question she asked.
Ford had been bullied his whole life because he was different than his whole family. When he was born, even his parents were confused as to why he looked like he did. They were a mermaid and a gargoyle and had no genes relating to a sphinx. Turns out, Ford was born with a weird disorder that only affected one out of every four million children. Doctors still don't know why it happens, but it affects the genes in a unborn baby. The most unusual part about it was all babies that were born with it were sphinx's. In all his life, Ford had never seen another sphinx, as only about fifty of them are in the whole world.
As Ford was quietly flying through the air, something caught his enhanced hearing. It was almost a whisper, and Ford didn't even know if it was real the first time he heard it. But then he heard it again, and again, and he knew it wasn't just in his mind. It was the call of a cub in distress.
Comeing to a stop, he looked around his surroundings, pinpointing the exact position of the call. Once he got a basic idea of where it was, he swiftly flew off.
He got closer and closer, until he could swear that it was comeing from right under him. And it was.
Ford looked down, and saw the source of the sound. In a small meddow below, a small mammal with wings flapped around despretly in a vibrant blue net. It was also calling over and over again for help, to which it looked as though none was comeing from the ground. But in the air, Ford was debating with himself weither to help. He could get caught himself, and the last thing he wanted was to be trapped again. But he couldn't just leave a cub to fend for himself, that would be just plain cruel.
Before he could depend however, nearby trees rattled. Ford pulled even higher into the air, not planning on being seen by whatever was coming through the woods. Unfortunately, what came through the forest he knew all to well.
Strolling into the meddow on strong, scaly legs, was the infamous Bill Cipher. A wretched smile was placed upon his face, and his light blue eyes light up in the dimming light. His long, slender dragon body swayed as he walked, making the almost digital black patterns on his body contort and contract. The golden scales glittered in the sunset, and his inky black wings that were located on each of his four legs reflected the light. The eye-like pattern on his forehead shone the same blue as the net the small mammal was trapped in.
Ford watched from above as Bill strolled over to the net smile never quavering.
"Well, I must say, your a tricky one pinetree!" Bill said, going up onto his massive hind legs and pointing at the cub with his front claws. In response, the cub merely flapped it's wings and snarled.
Bill snickered. "You got guts too! After I killed your parents, I wasn't planning to keep you as a pet, but now I'm reconsidering!" Bill went back on all fours and got close to the net, lowering his voice slightly.
"Although, if I do kill you, that would be one less sphinx in the world. It's already down two since your parents 'accidently' got caught in that rock slide on the cliffs. I'm genuinely suprised you got away, little one. I was aiming for all of you." Then the net disappeared, and almost instantly, Bills black hand pinned the cub down so he was still immobile. The cubs cries went down to a whimper.
That's when Ford couldn't take it anymore. With a tremendous roar, he dove straight down and rammed headfirst into Bill. Bill screeched at the claws that peirced his scales, rearing up once again to try and pry Ford off of his back. Instead, Ford merely flew off of him and put himself in between Bill and the small cub.
Bill took a glance at his small injury, then angrily back at Ford, who had his wings up and was in a pouncing position.
"Ah, Sixer, once again showing up at just the right time to ruin everything." Bill said snoodily. Ford growled in response. Suddenly, Bill looked up into the sky, and looked as though he was searching for something. He growled as well, and looked back at Ford.
"Your lucky I can't stay in this realm any longer." Bill said, swiftly turning his back around and making a dash towards the dark forest. Before he completely disappeared though he turned his head and glanced at Ford.
"This won't be the last you'll here from me" and with those words, he vanished into the forest.
Ford lowered his guard, and turned toward the cowering figure behind him. When he did, it was an understatement to say he was suprised.
Lieing on the ground was a small sphinx cub who looked to be about six years old in cat years, but twelve in human years. He looked to be a male, and had brown panicky eyes. His wings were almost as colorful as a full grown sphinx's, which was unusual in itself. The most unusual, though, was he looked like Mabel if she was a boy. Then taking a look on his back, Ford saw that his spots formed a perfect little dipper on his back. All in all, this boy was an interesting sphinx.
That's when Ford noticed that his right leg was bloody and bruised all the way up to the hip. Even though the cub whined like heck, Ford picked him up by the scruff of his neck and took flight towards the safety of the Mystery Shack.
