The sky quickly becomes overcast after I get out of bed. I make iced coffee to remind me of Josh. I had never had iced coffee before and figured there must be something good about it if Josh likes it.It's strong and gives me goosebumps. Kind of like Josh. Although I'd much more prefer Josh slipping down my throat. Wait what.
I shiver slightly at the thought and rub my arms in an attempt to get rid of the goosebumps.
A sprinkle of rain has started tapping on the windows, and the grey skies outside shatter open with lightning.
I set the mug on the counter and head to my room. I pull on a grey sweater and jeans before going to the door and pulling on shoes over my socks. I know what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna visit Josh. The boy with rain clouds in his head and monsoons in his soul.
I'm halfway to his house when I notice it. A soaked ball of fur walking down the sidewalk daintily. I quickly stop and get out of my car. Poor thing. I pity the tiny grey kitten and pull it into my arms, enveloping it in my sweater. The water is soaking through to my skin and I hold it away from my body a little bit as I get back in my car.
It looks at me through blue eyes and makes a pitiful squeaking noise. I think of what would have happened to the poor feline if I hadn't found it. It kind of reminds me of the coffee shop incident with Josh. I frown at the memory and shake it out of my thoughts.
I pull into Josh's apartment parking lot and get out of the car. I walk down the sidewalk and to the door Josh came out of the day he locked his keys in his car.
Holding the cat with one hand, I knock on the door. I hear padded footsteps on wood floors and hear about six latches and locks being undone before a timid Josh peeks out of the crack in the door. After seeing me, he opens the door and says, "Oh hey Tyler, nice cat."
The cat reaches its soaked head up over my arm and meows at Josh before ducking back into the shelter. "I was uh, driving when I found him and you were the closest one to me."
It's a lie. I was already headed to Josh's after masturbating to him when I found the kitten. He opens the door to his dark apartment wider before gesturing for me to come in. I walk into his apartment and he heads off down a hallway.
His apartment was...interesting. A stray easel next to a pot of soil with dead flowers. A couple of spoons balanced on a miniature sculpture of a man with no arms. It was like a weird aesthetic blog on Tumblr.
He soon returned with a couple of fuzzy towels and a smile. Just seeing him smile made me smile. I held out the kitten to him and he wrapped it in a towel and cradled it in his arms. I remember him saying he was a cat person and I heard correctly. He's soon cooing to the cat as it reaches up to lick his face.
Oh fuck, that was really cute.
We go to sit on the couch and turn on the tv. The baby cat is still in his arms and fast asleep by now. It sounds stupid but, I'm legitimately jealous of the cat. Snuggled up against Josh's chest in a blanket.
He looks at me and smiles. I smile back.
"You know, you don't have to keep it. I just needed to dry it off" I try to make conversation.
"I'm gonna name it April" he blurts out when I'm done talking. "You know, the rain" he stutters out to make himself clearer.
I nod, and watch as he goes to lay the cat on the bed of what I assume is his room. The sheets look messed up from here and underwear lies on the floor. I raise an eyebrow but try not to think of it too much. He comes back and sits next to me. He's very close to me and I can feel his hand brush against the outside of my leg.
He turns to face me and opens his mouth but nothing comes out, like his volume has been muted.
"So um, about the cafe incident. I just, want to thank you for saving me from that." He smiles a smile that looks genuine and quickly looks down into his lap.
"Josh, I'm just glad I could help." I stare at his lips and wonder what they feel like. Maybe I should find out.
"Josh. Can I, can I kiss you?" The cranial tsunamis come back and I feel sweat break out all over my body. I feel fireworks in my body that hadn't gone off yet.
"Y-Yes."
His pupils are blown as I glance down at his lips and reach a hand up to his face. I momentously inch my head closer to his and stroke his cheek with my thumb. Our lips meet and those fireworks in my head go off and explode as tsunamis crash on the beaches of my brain.
His lips are soft as they move against my own. Both of my hands are holding his face by now and I pull back from the kiss.
"Are you okay?" I ask through swollen lips.
He nods quickly and pushes forward. His forwardness is kind of a turn on but I really hope I don't get a boner. I don't want him to think I only want sex. I want him.He pushes his tongue into my mouth and swirls it over my gums. I smash his lips against mine. I can't get enough of him, but I have to control myself.
I quickly pull away, "Josh, I don't think you want this."
His eyes look hurt and my heart aches. I never wanted to hurt him. "Josh this is going too fast I think. I'm sorry I even let the kiss get that far. Maybe we can just watch tv together."
He nods again and wipes his lips. "Sorry, you're just, amazing." A blush spreads across his face and a cute smile blooms from the lips I just kissed.
He sits back into the couch seat next to me and unfolds a blanket. He spreads it over both our legs and I look over at his gorgeous face that's now focused on the tv. He's beautiful.
