It's Friday, and formal is tonight. All of the year 11 girls have taken the day off to get ready, so I start my day by sleeping in until 11:ooam.
I'm putting jam on my toast when my phone rings.
"Are you nearly ready?" May asks down the phone.
"I'm having my breakfast, I'll be over at about quarter to," I say, and she huffs before hanging up.
The girls and I have decided to get our hair, nails and finally makeup done at 2:00pm all together at our usual salon. It's 11:30 and I'm ready to leave. I got changed into a pair of black jeans, a grey sweater and my grey vans. I put on my white beanie, after of course brushing my hair. I then grab my black sunnies and head out.
I arrive at May's house on time, however I find that everyone else is already there.
"We are going into the city to get ice cream and stuff then we are going to the salon straight after," May says, and Jane rolls her eyes.
"May, our appointment is at 2, and it's 5 to 12 now. We have plenty of time," Jane says, and May glares at her.
"I have planned everything out perfectly, and we are not going to be messing up our timing on anything, got it?" May says, then walks upstairs to her room, probably getting her shoes.
"Has anyone told her there's another formal next year?" Grace says, and Jane groans.
"No one remind her," Hannah says. We walk over to May's living room and flick on the T.V.
Superbad is on the comedy channel, and it started three minutes ago.
"Score!" Grace says, flopping onto the couch and turning up the volume.
Five minutes later, May comes downstairs and stares at us in disbelief.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" she shouts, and Hannah jumps.
"Chill out May, the appointment is at 2 and it's now 4 minutes past 12," Jane says, rolling her eyes.
"If we run out of time we can just skip the ice cream," Grace says.
"Well, what time do you propose we leave?" May says, angrily crossing her arms over her chest.
"Like, 1:50?" Hannah says, and the look of disbelief on May's face is priceless.
"May, you live 5 minutes away from the salon, we will still be early," Jane says.
"Now shush, we had to pause Superbad and I want to continue watching it," Grace says, and May huffs, falling onto the couch next to me.
We watch Superbad, and before we know it it's 1:45.
"Ok, now we need to get ready to leave," Jane says, grabbing her sandals from the front door.
I get my vans and put them on, and after we locate Grace's phone (It was in between the couch cushions) we finally leave to the salon.
...
We get to the salon at 1:59, just in time.
"See? Told you we'd be early," Jane says to May, and May rolls her eyes.
"It's one minute. Hardly early," she mutters, just as a woman comes over to us.
"Girls, it's lovely to see you!" the woman, Carly, says, coming over to us. We have been coming to this salon for so long that we know everyone here.
"Hi Carly, we're here for our formal appointment," May says, and Carly smiles.
"Right this way". She leads us over to a row of five chairs, where we wait to get our hair done.
