Role Reversal

Chapter 3

"We make a good team don't you think boss?" Connie had followed Jacob out of resus where they had just treated the patient together.
"Hmm" Jacob replied bluntly as he continued walking, without turning around, hoping she would take the hint. But he could still hear her footsteps behind him. "I'm sure you have patients you could go and treat now, staff nurse Beauchamp. You do realise you're not required to follow me into my office don't you?" Jacob still didn't stop.
Connie laughed. "Don't flatter yourself, I was just on my way to cubicles" she gestured towards them, which were in the same direction as Jacob was heading.
Jacob stopped. He wasn't sure how to reply to that one.
"But if that was your attempt at an invitation to your office, I'm sure we can arrange it for later if you want?" Connie continued playfully. She had observed the effect she seemed to be having on Jacob and was playing on it as much as she could.
"Not today Connie" Jacob tried his hardest to keep a straight face but Connie could see his lips trying desperately to form a smile. She smirked in reply, before continuing to cubicles.
Jacob watched her walk away and then headed to his office.
