Grace
The pain in my head is unbearable. Everything hurts and I can't even remember how I got here. I smell that overly clean and medical air. From that I know for sure that I'm in a hospital. The smell I don't mind but just the thought of being in a hospital lying on a bed with a needle in my arm terrifies me to death. And that's just what's happening right now.
I feel small warm stokes on my arm and I slowly open up my eyes. It takes my vision a while to adjust to the bright light in the room but after a while I see a dark shadow sitting beside me on a chair. My eyes finally focus and I see that it's my dad. I have never been so happy to see him.
Please just take me out of here.
He smiles and mumbles something to me but I don't understand a single thing from what he's saying. My eyes close again. I'm so exhausted.
After a while I open my eyes up again and see that dad is still in the same position as he was a while ago. Or was it an hour? I can't tell.
I'm looking at him when I suddenly see a dark shadow shift behind him. The posture moves toward the doorway and leans against it. My eyes focus on the posture and I recognize it immediately.
Blake.
What is he doing here?
"Gracie, sweetheart it's okay. You're okay,'' dad says to me and I can see tears built up in his eyes. I try to say something but no sound comes out of me. I look at Blake who is still standing in the doorway with his hands crossed over his chest, and his eyes are filled with concern. Those gorgeous rich brown eyes are now sad. How does he even know about me being here?
I close my eyes and try to remember what has happened. The only thing that comes to my mind is seeing a blue car coming right at me and then...nothing. I'm so thankful that I'm still alive because this could have ended much worse.
My eyes are closed and I'm still deep in my thoughts when I hear my father speaking.
"You have seen her. She's okay. Now leave,'' he speaks with a demanding voice. I keep my eyes closed as he speaks and at first I wonder to who he is speaking to, but then it hits me.
Blake.
I slowly open up my eyes and see that dad is standing beside Blake and speaking to him quietly so that only Blake can hear it. What's he saying to him?
Blake's eyes widen and he looks at me with fear and our eyes meet for a brief second and then he looks back at dad. His eyes immediately change and fill with anger. I have never seen him angry.
He walks out of the door and does not look back.
And for some reason this hurts me more than I would have thought.
